Hi Welcome to the forum. It is hard to tell at 7 months old how tall they should be. I have 3 under 1 year here with me that are all differnt in height and size....They grow until they are at least 2 years old...But most of the growth happens in the first year. I know the Breed Standard is supposesd to be shorter, smaller then what I am rescuing.... I have been owned by Sheepies for 35 years and THEY have all been different...How tall at the shoulder is your Baby? Sheepie Hugs, Kaye Second Chance OES Rescue |
All sheepies vary in size. The AKC says they should be about 22 inches for males at full grown so I am assuming at about 1.5-2 years old. Since yours is younger than that I would say less than 22 inches but honestly, my mom has a 8 month old male and he is probably about 23 inches already so it really varies from dog to dog. |
They do vary greatly.... the standard actually says for males 22 inches and UP... but most get larger than that. My girl Dancer is tiny for an OES, but even she is 23 inches. Sky is 25 inches and not full grown yet. She may not grow taller, but still has some filling out and muscle development to go. |
Sammy is 8 months old and 23 inches at the shoulder and weighs 30kg (not sure what that is in pounds) and he looks like he is getting wider but that's just his coat
Some people have said that you can get an idea of how big a dog will be by the size of their paws but I wonder if that's an 'Old Wives Tale' |
boo is fully grown and she stands at 25in and weighs in at around 34kg |
