http://www.iamscruelty.com/ I just found out - i'm behind with news! |

I think there was a thread about this awhile back...does anyone remember? |
That site has been around for years. I don't believe it.... to me peta takes a good cause and turns it into tabloid fodder. They attack the wrong areas, often falsely, and often blow things WAY out of proportion.
JUST MY OPINION. |
I agree with willowsprite. The unfortunate thing about the internet is that you can find so called "facts" to support almost any argument you want. Sometimes is really hard to flesh out the truth. For example:

Hmm, we use Iams so I took a look at the website. Two interesting things, first, none of the major brands are on their list of cruelty free foods, which makes it inconvenient to switch. Second, to make it easier for you, the animal lover, to buy their recommended cruelty free foods, they've set up an online store for your shopping convenience and 8% of your purchase price is donated to... PETA. Can you say "conflict of interest"?
I may look into this some more just because I'm switching the humans in the family to organic food, so I'm going to think about going organic for Bailey too. But considering the fact that Bailey will eat anything that doesn't move fast enough (as a lazy, now tail-less lizard learned the hard way), I'm reluctant to spend a fortune on his food then watch him chow down on dirt and rocks in the yard! By the way, the lizard's tail is growing back. And he takes off as soon as Bailey comes out the door now. |
Sue, that reminds me of when I was a kid. My brothers and I would go lizard hunting and usually when we caught one, the tail would come off! And, every lizard we caught was named Lizardo. Very original, huh!
I noticed that, too, about the website about none of the major brands being represented. I was wondering if that was PETA's way of saying that no giant corporation could be good. As for going organic for you, I think that's great. I try and eat organic as much as possible, and although it is a tad more expensive, I feel it is worth it, especially for things like milk. With all those hormones and stuff they give cows, it really worries me about what it does to the milk, and makes me wonder if that is part of the reason kids in America are going through puberty at a younger age (that, and the obesity issue)... |
