Welcome from MI
I am one of the ones interested in the vaccine debate and would like to hear what you have to say. Can't wait for the pictures. |

Hey all, I am just going to bed but if there is anything specific you want to know ask and I will help out. I will check in daily. One specific is that coronavirus vaccines are worthless except for puppies less than 6 months. There have been studies where they tried to get dogs sick from it and couldn't unless they really compromised their immune systems first. I would not let vets vaccinate any of my dogs past one or 2 years old and as little as possible from then on. Rabies every 3 years because of laws is the only one your dog needs. |

Hi from Arizona!!!! |
Hi,
Belated greeting to you! Welcome! I hadn't seen your post and recently posted in general chit chat regarding a conversation I had with my vet on the very topic you're interested in. Ironically another member had also posted on the same topic the day before in the medical forum. See! you already had much in common with some of the things we question ourselves. This forum is wonderful to discuss all sorts of topics regarding sheepies with people all over the world. I know you'll love it here. Marianne and the boys |
Hi. I can't believe I missed your post as I'm on here ALL THE TIME! Sad, huh? You probably live close to me or maybe we've spoken before. I have Annie in Buffalo Grove from Geri House. I know Jeri Hoppe well and have spoken with Grace. You'll really enjoy the forum and will potentially be a forum addict like us! |
Hi WreckTech, I'm very interested in your conclusions on vaccs. There has been much discussion on the do's and the don't's of them. I haven't had my oldie Ariki vaccinated for some time now. Being eleven I don't think he needs them but.................................. |

My view is that after one year of age and proper schedule for the first year no further vaccines are necessary. The leading experts on vaccines are my sourse. |
Hi,
I recently had this discussion with my vet as I once again, had my four cats and 3 dogs innoculated last summer . What you are saying is correct. My personal take on it is the first set of shots and rabies is given in year one. Then the following year a three year rabies shot is given. After that, I think the pets are safe for at least five years (according to my vet). Sadly tho, you can't put you dogs in doggie daycare, a kennel or travel unless they have up to date immunization. So catch 22 in some cases. Having adopted over 30 animals from the Humane Society over a period of several years...all were immunized yearly until the ages of aprox 15 for the cats. Old Blue who is 17 had to be immunized last year when my private petsitter arrangements fell through 2 days before I was leaving the country. He required immunization to be allowed at the kennel..except for the kennel cough one..I felt it was a waste. Marianne |
