Hi
It sounds like you and your vet are on top of it. I would not supplement your puppy, I would just increase by 1/4 cup of food if she needs it. (per week) Puppies grow fast, some need more food then others. If her stools are good (firm) weight is increasing your on the right track. Sometimes when a person supplements a puppy they get too many types of food in their system, their bodies cannot utilize it all, thus they get a loose stool, won't eat their reg. dog food, they eat the cottage cheese or whatever a person puts on it, so you defeat your purpose. If you feel she needs something talk to your vet, but Science Diet is a good food and has everything she needs in it. Barbara |
Hi Aurelie,
We have fed our dog Barney dry food with a little cottage cheese mixed in, since we got him when he was 5 months old. The only reason we started doing that was he didn't eat his food for the first week we had him and we were worried so we added it and he started eating, and we figured adding the tablespoon or two won't affect his diet too much so we've kept it up. If your puppy is eating her food, I'd say just keep it the way it is for now. |
Thanks for responding, Barbara and Barney's parent. We'll just keep on with what we're doing then since she's enjoying it.
By the way, I know I have said this before but I appreciate this forum!!! It's so amazing that the OES crowd is such a sharing and compassionate group of individuals from all over the world. Aurelie |
