It has begun! The great puppy search is offically in progress!!!! Thanks to my sister in law's christmas present, a german shepherd puppy named "Sadie" (what a cutie!!!) Hubby has given the ok to bring a puppy home in the spring! Woohooo Now I can feel like a complete doofus, because even after waiting for almost 3 years, I don't have anything well organized!!! I lost my puppy breeder questionaire, I totally flipped out (see the puppy forum) when I went to call the breeder... Plus my first choice in breeders is having trouble getting their bitch to go into season, so they aren't going to have any puppies in the spring. I thought I had it all tied up already, NOT!!!! There aren't any breeders that I can find in MN, when I contacted Tarja, her nationwide list doesn't have anyone in my state Luckily I'm right on the WI border... I'd really prefer to see the dam and puppies in person, but we can't foot plane tickets on top of the puppy cost!!! Anyways, I just wanted to thanks all of you guys, who've been putting up with me, especially our gentle FORUM GURU (that's you RON) while I've been pining away for a sheepie of my very own... Doesn't it seem like forever??? It almost doesn't seem real... I don't think it has sunk in yet that I'm actually going to be able to bring one home! If I seem a little out of sorts, its either A) I'm ridiculously excited and bursting at the seams B) I'm on a lot of cold medicine (stupid winter cold) C) both A and B C is the most likely suspect... Woohhhooooo!!!! My VERY OWN OLD ENGLISH SHEEPDOG!!!! Thank goodness Karen |

I think we all fall under A, B, or C when it comes to being happy for you!
YIPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!! Did you say you had a preference (boy/girl)? |
I'm just tickled to death for you Karen!!
Do you have names picked out, too? |
yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeee im so pleased for you |
What an exciting time!!! I can feel your anticipation from here!! Good luck, and be sure to keep us posted!

No, we're open to either sex. We're focusing on personality over looks or gender. I want to find a dog with a very tender and loving personality, I think Mike wants somebody who'll play with him, and chase the cats around So it's gonna be more of a "you're the one!!!!" kinda thing more than anything else, that's why I want to go see the litter in person. thanks for the good wishes Jo!!! I still remember when you brought Yukster home, I was SO jealous! Now you've got the one up on me in the baby dept too... But as I've discovered, good things come to those who wait, and wait, and wait some more

I don't think I've ever heard Nimbus? Where is it from? Nimbus, I believe, is a Harry Potter reference. Brand name of his Quiddich (sp?) broom. Was it the Nimbus 3000? |
WOO-HOO! I'm doing a little happy dance for you! |
Ahhhh....thanks for the info, El Gato! I haven't read the Harry Potter books, so I've missed that one. |
Oh, Tammy! You NEED to read them...they are very good books...and if you want to be 'cool' with your nephew... |

lol.... congrats, almost, sorta. At least you're on your way! |
Actually, my reasoning for Nimbus was from the meterological meaning of word, as in a type of cloud. Think cumulonimbus (grr I hope I got the spelling right!!!). (I think that is where J.K. Rowling got the word from) Although the broom idea isn't bad either!!! Although ORIGINALLY speaking Nimbus was a god of wind (Roman maybe?) If you've seen Botticelli's birth of Venus, he's the guy on the left blowing Venus in from the Sea. (That'd fit right in since Iris was the greek goddess of the rainbow... then Bell'd be the only one not named for a deity.)
Anyhow, since sheepies are cloud colored and are all soft and fluffy, I thought Nimbus would be pretty appropriate. It's certainly better than Cumulo! Although other cloud names are pretty too- Stratus and Cirrus are nice, but I think Nimbus has a warm sound to it. Now that I've answered that mystery |
My friends sheepie girl is called "Cloudy" |
Woohoo...Karen is finally getting a Sheepie of her own!!! Woohoo
I am so happy for you!!!! |
Karen is getting a puppy...Karen is getting a puppy |
Wohooo! This deserves a Banana Dance!
Imagine them dancing the Can-Can.... Ha! |
Woo hoo!!! It's about time he let you get your puppy. Good luck with the search! |
I'm so happy for you. I would be sooo excited!! |

You're right about that Steph. He's read the books and seen all the movies! I've got to get better at being the "hip" auntie! LOL Karen - I really like Nimbus - especially now that I know all the meanings!! Very apropo!! |
Thanks guys!!! I'm really, really excited. I think I'm gonna drag hubby to Fleet Farm this weekend to look at grooming tools... they carry the brand my mom always used when she did shelties (safari) I still have one of her brushes, that I use on Iris, and brush that will hold up for 20 years of use has my vote!!! The more I spread out the puppy purchases, the easier it is on the wallet... right??? I've still gotta figure out where I'm gonna put the crate, and we NEED to hang a door on the butler's pantry now, otherwise have my foodstocks will end up getting eaten when pup gets to counter surfing stage. Plus that's where the cat food container is, and I think I'm gonna stick the dog food int here too.
What does everybody use for dog food containers??? The kitty girls have a full-size christmas popcorn tin, but I don't think that is gonna be big enough to hold dog food, although I did buy one with puppies on it this year. Excuse me if I end up babbling... Karen |
I use a big rubbermaid bin for dog food |
Me too. At least I think it's made by Rubbermaid. It's made for dog food and I got it at PetsMart. It's the big one - holds 40 lbs of food. I get the big 35 lbs bags so I only have to buy food every two weeks. Plus it's ever so slightly cheaper that way.
How fun! New puppy purchases!! |
we use the same thing..the rubber maid, however, IF we ever get around to redoing our kitchen, im going to put it in a pull out "trash" container with a lid..right next to her food bowl...... |
YAY Karen! Now the waiting will be even harder, the closer it gets......
Both names are great, why not get one of each so you don't have to decide |
