1 14.5 oz can of salmon 1/2 cup cottage cheese 1.5 cups garbanzo bean flour 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese grated parmesan for topping * Preheat oven to 350. * Empty contents of canned salmon into blender, add cottage cheese and process until it has a mousselike consistency. * Add flour and cheddar, mix into sticky dough. Grease sides and bottom of 8x8 pan, turn dough into pan and spread to corners with wet hands. Sprinkle with parmesan. Bake 35 to 40 minutes, cool in pan ** Use whole wheat flour if you aren't limiting grains. I line the pan with foil and coat it with cooking spray, just lift the foil and peel it off. |

Great recipe, if I get a chance I'll try this. My dogs aren't used to me baking cookies for them.
Reminded me of my younger sister baking Christmas cookies for her Shelties and Labs and "nieces" and "nephews" of OES, Goldens and German Shepherd Dogs. He son was helping her bake and sampled one of the cookies. Said it was "okay but kinda dry". Bet he was glad it was peanut butter instead of salmon and cottage cheese. Ugh! |
I made liver biscotti one time and forgot it at work. One of my employees ate some thinking it was chocolate . He didn't like it as much as my dogs did. |
What's "garbanzo bean flour", never heard of it? |
It's a type of bean. I use it because I try to restrict grains for one of my boys who has cancer. You could also use rice flour. You could also substitute soy flour for up to 1/4 volume. |
I've had garbonzo beans, but I had no idea there was a flour made out of it! |
Would that be available at a Health food shop? If I can't get it here will try with the rice flour. Thanks for the receipe |
In the states we can get it at any large grocery store, the most popular brand is Bob's Red Mill. You could probably grind it yourself, just use dried beans, some brands also use navy beans and blackeyed peas mixed in. |
