My Mother always raved about it, said it was the best she'd ever seen. After years of hearing her carry on about it I finally went. I wasn't impressed (I saw it on Braodway), so you aren't alone. |
I wasn't impressed either and I saw it on Broadway.
Now, if you want to talk about Les Miserables, that's another story! |
I wonder if the show was about "Dogs" instead of "Cats" if people on this forum would be raving about how one character was "just like my dog!"
Just a thought. P.S. I have not seen "Cats". |
Could be Ron!
I remember that I was annoyed because I recognized the poems from a book Mom & I used to read when I was a kid, so as far as I was concerned, they didn't belong to music. |

You may have hit on something there, Ron. I am a cat person, too and I liked the musical. |
darcy i'm with you, i dropped 100 on a pair of tickets a few years back when it was on broadway. i walked out 45 minutes in, couldn't stand it...... |
I'm not a cat person and I thought it wasn't too bad. My husband saw it with the original London cast and said it was great and in his opinion, nothing comes close. |
LOL...my favorite musical was "Into the Woods"...everyone can relate to that..its based on all kid stories and nursery rhymes...and it was comical.
Maybe Im just not a cat person being so allergic....but I still think, a good musical is a good musical...and this didnt grab me...oh well... |
This guy wanted to take me out for a first date kinda thing, kinda like a blind date...anyways we went to it, and I fell asleep in parts of it. Didn't grab me either.
the next night tho, I went with another group, we went and saw George Brooks (country singer)...anyways I LOVED it. Now this was the same weekend, and I was coming down with a cold, so perhaps it was the medicine making me sleepy, but I wasn't overly impressed with the story. Now a perfect musical that I could watch again was Phantom of the Opera. |
oh my. I guess I am the only one here then!
My first trip to London I went to see CATS there in the Old Vic Theater. I so enjoyed myself and the play. I wonder if it *IS* since it is no longer on Broadway or in London anymore if htat was it? Of course, I knew absolutely nothing about what I was going to see at that time! Norm and I went to see Phantom of the Opera on Broadway in NYC one year. We went the night before Thanksgiving. We had dinner at The Russian Tea Room before. I remmeber we both were highly impressed at the dinner, and the play itself. However I was horribly dissapointed to see people there not 'dressed' up. People in blue jeans and every day attire. My growing up always entailed we DRESSED when we went to the theater or out to a very nice resturant. Even Norm commented. Ali |
i went to see cats in london many years ago now and i have to say that i really enjoyed it. |
Now my all time favorite was The Lion King. I saw it in St. Louis for my 18th birthday and it was wonderful. Despite the fact that I had just gotten sick and my nose was running like a broken faucet (and the guy in front of me had a head like a basketball!). ^_^ |
The first time we went to see Phantom, the girl playing Christine fell during Masquerade and then just sat there laughing. Quite impressive. |
I haven't seen Cats, although I know most of the songs...
But, I did go to NYC last year (2 years ago?) and saw the Lion King. FABULOUS. The costumes were amazing. The whole show was entrancing. |
