Id never give Panda more than one every week....over the holiday, she got 2 in 3 days and boy did she have the runs......gross.....back to the regular routine! |
I typically limit Annie to rawhide once a week or once every two weeks. Make sure that he is really chewing them up and make sure they digest well. That will help determine how many and what type to give him. As always, don't leave him alone with the rawhides. I like monitor Annie to make sure she her gums aren't bleeding or that she isn't swallowing huge pieces. It is possible for them to choke if they don't chew the rawhide up really well. |
I think it depends on the dog. Tasker had a huge rawhide bone that he would chew on almost every day but it didn't seem like he ever really chewed much off it, it lasted him for a year or more. I think the smaller pieces can cause intestinal blockages so you'd want to be careful of giving too many. I tend to get pigs ears or pork skin rather than raw hide. |

I agree. We have to watch Frank like a hawk because if he chews one up for more than a half an hour then he's jumping up on our bed at 4am to be let out because he has diarrhea. The getting out of bed and letting him out isn't that bad but hosing & cleaning his back side afterwards is the worst when we're half asleep. |
Wow, I feel lucky...Spike is constantly knawing on a rawhide and we never have the runny poop problem. Thank goodness because they're the only thing that keeps him out of trouble when he's in the house!
(I can't even count how many rawhide toys I have laying around the house for him and in a drawer waiting to be switched out .) |
My girls will take a couple of days to work through a rawhide, but when it gets gummy and soft I take it away, so they never actually eat it.
They maybe get one pressed rawhide stick a week. |

There's some really old ones that I don't have the heart to toss because whenever I'm ready, they start messing around with them again. |
