At least these three sweeties will be sleeping all nice and clean in warm beds of their foster homes during Christmas. Ho-ho-ho..... |

unbelievable! |
Thank you for doing what you do!! |
You know I don't know how any of you take it --day in and day out. Just the stories I heard about when I was looking for a dog to rescue nearly drove me nuts. I can't imagine what it would be like to be faced with that kind of heart break and outrage day after day. I'm glad you do what you do, but how you manage to do what you do--is really amazing. |
It is so sad... they wouldn't do that to their kids... then again some do that too.... |
So sad, I think the worse is yet to come for rescue shelters in the new year. Those impulse buys that people do for christmas presents, yes those cute little balls of fluff that then grow & become more of a responsibility and all of a sudden they don't want them anymore. |
How very sad and thanks for taking in these boys/girls in and providing them with a happy home for the holidays. The stories are heartbreaking and you are a special person for opening up your heart and your home.
Marianne I was curious as to what kinds of rescues you do as I saw what looked like a chihauhau or pincher and some shelties on your site. |
Bless all the rescuers....and a pox on the people who abandoned these animals.

Rescue is addictive, and can take over your life. So much to do, it is almost overwelming. But without people like on this list that adopt the homeless dogs it couldn't be done. Half of the dogs we take in are registered and 90% of the time when we contact the breeder they cannot take the dog back for whatever reason. We offer to accept a donation and I got a cheque once, from one breeder. Nothing from the one we have taken in 4 of her dogs!
There are 2 rush times in rescue....right before Christmas and in mid-to-late spring. When the Christmas puppies are 7 to 10 months old, have had no training, not socialized, and now have behavioral problems. And of cource, the seniors that folks don't want to pay board cossts for, when the family goes away for the summer holidays. But hey, these families can get another puppy off the internet, so what's the big deal? I do basically sheltie rescue, but we will take in other herding breeds, too. (Bosley) The little fellow with Bosley is a chi that was brought up here with a bunch of other dogs, from Louisiana as a result of the Katrina disaster. Pics of the two recently abandoned ones we just got in can be seen by clicking the little camera, once approved by admin. |
heartbreaking. they are beautiful dogs. how could their families part with them . . . |
"Rescue is addictive, and can take over your life".........................................I would have not understood that statement years ago.. I think it is very hard for most people to understand.........It is a Calling........ It becomes a Passion!!!!!!It is vey hard to take that responsibilty lightly..... There is never enough time, money, help........... It changes you as a person..It changes your priorities.....All of the little things I used to wrory about no longer phase me..........You have to have someone to vent to.....Only someone that does it really understands the frustration.......If you don't get it up and out you BURN OUT!!!!!!!!!!!! My Cousin said to me " Why do you do it?" Who Knows....We all have different reasons....... Kaye , Second Chance OES Rescue |
