Before you click on "Post reply" go to the post you want to quote and click on "quote" in the upper right corner of their post box.
However, I have NOT figured out how to quote more than one post in a reply. Perhaps someone else could help with that one! |

I'm trying this to see if I "get it"! |
I can't figure out what you're doing wrong. Try it again - just go to the top of this post and click on quote. Then DON'T type anything of your own. Just hit "preview" and see if it looks right. |

One to type the message and one to go and get the quotes. It is cumbersome. Beaureguard's Mom wrote: I can't figure out what you're doing wrong. I copied that right out of Darcy's post so I am not sure why it did not look correct in her message. |

I didn't know how to do this either |

Highlight and cut what you don't want Well, that doesn't work |
See it just doesnt work...im computer illiterate.....someone come show me in person... |
Here's my version:
First highlight what you want to copy into your note. Then hit the Post Reply button. Then paste what you just highlighted into your note box. The highlight the part you want in Quotes and hit the Quote box. And always use the PREVIEW to see what you just did. |
how do you paste????? |
Darcy wrote: and its still not right In order to have a quote in your post, your post needs to include the [quote] and [/quote] tags. Those are the BBCode (Bulletin Board Code) tags. Your post had them but you also have a little box checked on your posting form that says "Disable BBCode in this post". It did just what the name implies, it disabled the BBCode tags. There's an option on your "Profile" page "Always allow BBCode" that is probably set to "No". You should go to your profile page, and ensure that it is set to "Yes". Beaureguard's Mom wrote: However, I have NOT figured out how to quote more than one post in a reply. Perhaps someone else could help with that one! You can insert the BBCode yourself, just type it in. Or you can use the little buttons above the text box on the posting form. They will give you a generic "quote". If you want to add the person's name to the quote, it looks like this:
[quote="PersonsNameInsideQuotes"]Quoted text goes here[/quote] Here's a big hint: You can always hit the "quote" button on any post to see how the typed in text of another post looks to get hints... but here's a bigger hint: Don't do that with THIS post of mine, I had to do some funky things to make some of the tags work, and others not work in the same post. |

ctrl-c to copy ctrl-v to paste and if opening multiple windows to copy from more than one message is too cumbersome, you can just enclose what you copy from someone else's message with the bracketed quote and /quote. |
bestdogsx4 wrote: [quote="Beaureguard's Mom"]Before you click on "Post reply" go to the post you want to quote and click on "quote" in the upper right corner of their post box. The BBCode tags always work in pairs... if you have an opening [quote] or [quote="someonesname"] tag, you need to have a closing [/quote] tag. Always in pairs.Highlight and cut what you don't want Well, that doesn't work |

Check it out!! I did it!! Yippee!!! |
Valerie wrote: Darcy wrote: how do you paste????? ctrl-c to copy ctrl-v to paste Even easier, highlight what you want, right click, copy. Then go to a new reply window, right click, paste. Within your own reply, if you want to move something around, highlight, right click, cut, reposition the cursor., right click, paste. |
