So much conflicting information on Cancer-Diet Relationship
 Some tout carrots, pumpkin and sweet potatoes for the beta carotene; others say sweet vegtables should not be given because they are feeding the cancer cells. If experts can't agree how is a layperson supposed to know the best thing to do? Same thing with supplements, most agree on what to use but not the form or dosage  I currently have Beau on milk thistle 2x day for liver support, 4 fish oil capsules a day and CAS Options 4x day. Sorry, I'm feeling very frustrated, I'm sure there is more I can do for him if only I can find good information. |

| This area is so full of quicksand it's not even funny. I don't think you are going to find one definitive answer. Remember the whole debate about eggs, one day they're good, the next they're bad, then only part of them is good and the other part is evil.
I would say go with real world advice. Try looking at testimonial type info from people who have also gone through this and had good luck. I'm pretty sure Marianne posted some info about what she did with Shaggy later in her life somewhere on here. All the best to Beau and keep fighting the good fight! |
| I know how dam confusing it is. I had a dog that lasted 7 years with cancer, read and researched all sorts of web pages and just got more confused. Made a decision to just feed her natural things, no processed food, not even dry dog food, used supplements like you have, organic meats, grains and vegetables as I did not want to put any unwanted chemicals or hormones that is hidden in a lot of foods into her system.
Also with grains, brown cooked unprocessed rice rather then white rice. No wheat products. Rolled soaked oats where good and so good for them, same with boiled barley grain. Stuck to free range organic chicken and lighter meats like lamb and also fish rather then beef. Bought a Holoisitc Vet book and found that such a great help in her diet and keeping her alive and healthy. Another thing I found out with this book is when feeding naturally a good supplement for them is adding a digestive enzyme to their meals. Hope this helps a bit, I know it is such a frustrating time as each time you read this and that on diets and cancer it only gets more confusing. One lot says one thing another says another thing It is just a matter of taking bit and pieces from all sources and working out what is best for your dog and most imporatantly what your dog will eat, especially if they have been quite ill with fighting the cancer.  |

Just found this to aid her, must of done something right with her diet, when she was 7 she had 3 operations in 6 weeks to try and get it all, still had abnormal cells floating around in her blood tests. Was told at the time you might get 6 months maybe slightly longer, WELL, she lived another 7 years and old age just caught up with her, yep 14 and I was so proud of that and thankful for another glorious 7 years with her. I just stuck to a very strict diet with her and she flourished. |
