The actual Purina Philly Kennel Club Dog Show will air nationally at noon EST on Thanksgiving Day on NBC and on Saturday either 4 or 5 pm for whoever is interested. |

We actually got to do a little on air segment with Mo Rocca too! They asked if he had an endorsement deal for his boots. (Nice work Holly!!!)
It might air Wednesday night as a push for the dog show, they're on the same network. Usually they post the correspondent's reports on the net after they air. Who knows if we'll actually get on, they did a lot of filming. They did one shot of him reading a bedtime story to a sleeping bloodhound! We also got interviewed by the people doing the "behind the scenes" stuff for the actual dog show. They compared George Davies and I. He's been in OES for 40 years and this was our 4th show. Then they were talking about what they would look for in OES when judging and I was showing them proper muzzle and all. Next we shot a segment where I would compare the host to a sheepdog, how he would do in the judging. I said he had a pretty rectangular front and he needed some more coat. He was about my age and had a receeding hairline and frosted tips. You could tell he was really into his hair. He was laughing so hard after that! Hopefully that'll make it. They also shot a bunch of stuff of us grooming, like pass by shots. There's one where Toby's on his back, all 4 feet in the air and head hanging off the table. They loved that too! After showing on Saturday we got interviewed for a Purina commercial. They said they'd send a link for the commercial when it was done. On Sunday a local newspaper took pics of Toby and I. They'll probably run that story Wednesday also. If I find it on the net, I'll put it up. It's really bad when you talk about your show weekend in media exposure instead of wins! (P.S. Deb and Frank went Reserve Winners on Saturday!) |
Wow, Mandy, where was I when you were getting all the media exposure?! Please keep us posted on the coverage so I can see you guys. And do you know which paper you may be in? Was it a Philly paper or local county paper. If it's a Philly paper, I'll be sure to grab you a copy.
Also, addition to the Saturday Rebroadcast time - it's 4 or 5 pm EST on Bravo channel, not NBC. NBC channel noon EST on Thanksgiving Day It was really a fun couple of days. |
Well, you guys were standing right there when I was doing the thing with Mo Rocca. That Chris is such a distraction! The stuff for the actual show happened on Friday. You and Frank were showing when we did the Purina commercial, that was ringside but apparently you were too busy winning to notice. (Who wants to go to a dog show to actually win? )
The shots for the paper were done Sunday afternoon. I think you had gone to watch groups? Not quite sure. It was after I changed my shirt but before I changed my pants. (Bright red shirt, pink palazzo pants. I rock in my color choices!) The paper is the Bucks County Intelligencer (Journal?). I've been looking at the website and no after coverage of the show yet. Didn't look yet today, I'll go check. If you find it, grab a copy. |
I have some friends in Bucks County so I will see if they can pick up a copy so I can send it to you.
Yeah, we were busy winning.... that was a big surprise, especially on our first time out and not in full bloom yet... It does make you somehow feel like all of the grooming & conditioning is worth it. As far as clothing, the 2 colors I wear day-to-day are black & gray, so I've been trying to sneak off to Walmart/Target to pick up the color clothing that I won't be wearing again after we're done showing Frank. It cracks me up the outfits that people wear. And during the group judging, the stoic judge is always wearing black with sequins or something dazzling like that. I do like how people are still getting dressed up to show since it seems as though the trends in every other area are jeans & t-shirts. |
Toby is going to be super famous!!!!! Like Lassie...but BETTER!!! |

Wowsers Mandy!!! A Star is Born!!! How exciting that must have been! I really hope you get the air time and the commercial too. How cool would that be??
Best of Luck to you! Marianne and the boys |
I'll be watching for sure, for sure! |
No Toby on the Tonight Show! So sad. Arlene Pietracola and the her girl made it. Well the back end of her girl!
Also, Dick Blair and his dog Whimsy were on the Today show this morning. (Of course, Lester Holt loves OES!!!!) Keep your fingers crossed for the dog show today. |
Noon today on NBC? |
I found Mandy's Purina National Dog Show Video Clip on the Web -
Check it out here: http://www.dogshowusa.com/NDS/default.sps?iType=11511 George's grooming got in for a sec too. Cute Piece Mandy!! (btw. my Bucks County friends are in TN for the holiday so I was unsuccessful getting you a copy of the paper.) |
Ha! More coat! |
Ha! Nice work Mandy and George! |
I saw someone on Leno grooming a sheepie's behnd. Who was that? |
Arlene Pietracola from Windfall Kennel was the woman with her bitch on Jay Leno. She's been in the OES world for over 30+ years. She won best of breed on Saturday and although the OES didn't get really any coverage on TV for the dog show, you can see her in the "all around" in the herding group. |
That was so cute!!! |
Good Job Mandy!! |
