Decided to get up bright and early so my sister and I could travel to the Islands to view that property I'm interested in. Drove 1 hr to the Ferry...arrived 1/2 hour before the sailing time. Announcement made..Ferry cancelled due to heavy fog..another 2 hr wait. Fog was as thick as pea soup. Panda got to enjoy 2 and 1/2 hrs of walking up and down the Ferry Terminal doing a meet and greet with people. Then boarded the Ferry for the 2 hr crossing to Vancouver Island. When we arrived on the other side we had left my house aprox 5- 6 hrs earlier. Normally never takes that long but due to the ferry cancellation we had to wait so long for the next one to arrive. When we arrived we drove across the city to yet another smaller Ferry to another Island and a 20 min crossing. Panda liked this one better as he was allowed on the deck unlike the other one where he had to stay in the car deck..so hense I stayed down there too. Only thing is he barked and barked when the Ferry blared the fog horn which was often as it was sooooo foggy. Arrived at smaller Island..viewed property..all the photos came out with weird bubbles..giving an appearance of ghostly images. I'll post pics in a few days. Then back in Ferry Lineup for the return trip home...13 hrs later..and a big snooze in the back of my sisters car..Panda had a happy adventure..but I'm exhausted. Marianne and the boys |

What a great adventure for Panda! When your dream becomes a reality with all those sheepies around you I bet you won't remember how tired you are Good luck!!! With such a wonderful goal in mind this WILL happen for you. |
good grief, that was a long day!!! I'm sure it was all worth it though to see your potential new house!! I remember dreaming about our choices when we were looking for a home.
Hope you're all rested up now! |
What a good traveling companion. Wonder if the fog horns brought back memories or just the strange sound was the trigger. I quite enjoyed traveling with my first sheepie, Maudie. She was a real trooper. |
I would love to hear some of your past travelling experiences with Maudie!
Panda is the best out of the three to travel with, with the exception of barking at that very loud fog horn aboard the ship. Luckily this is a rare occurance and news reports have been claiming it's the first time in 25 years it's been this foggy. I've only heard a fog horn from a distance..owww different when you're right on the ship and the horn is blaring away. LOL! Each of the boys has had the opportunity to travel on the Ferry on previous trips but Panda has always been the best behaved. Seems some are just born to travel. I joked about it in the Photos forum..that he's turning out to be an "ole Sea Dog". Oh yeah, I was so tired last night when I posted...spelt Adventure incorrectly.. Marianne and the boys |
If you get the property and move there would you have to ride the ferries everyday to get to work get groceries etc? |
i asked my dad and the fuzzy ghostly images are the flash relecting off of water droplets in the air like in fog
i just thought i'd ask him as hes really into photography zoe |
I just love Panda Adventures, they make me smile! |
Thanks for asking about that Zoe!
It was very strange as after all that travelling to view the property..not one of the pics turned out! They all looked like that! My sisters camera took good pics before and after, but not of the place I had travelled 6 hrs to take photos of! Then six hours back home again..LOL! Ah well..it wasn't a lost cause anyhow as Panda got to spend some one on one time with me and my sister. I also loved the place but realized that it didn't have that much space for a sheepie to run and run. Although it was 2 acres..I think I would much prefer a meadow type property. Not giving up however..will continue looking and one day will make it a reality. Marianne and the boys |
What a day! |
