OES, a breed of very high intelligence.
I can relate to the story of being ill and having my own OES show great concern. So many times I have heard people refer to the OES as not one of the smartest breeds around. It saddens me to hear this, as the past 4 years of owning Bam-Bam has been magical. I have witnessed an animal with a mind of his own and a love for all. The ability to make even the most miserable human smile. Those of us fortunate enough to have chosen these big lovable souls as part of our families, can only know. |

You are absolutely right! Once you own one - life is never the same. Other breeds just can't compare and you can't help but smile at their antics. They are definately smart dogs. |
| I would have to dissagree with the intelegence quote, i for one have been fortunate enough to own various types and breeds of dog, and i find the OES to be VERY INTELEGENT. What most people see is a ball of huricane powered fur and teeth, running arround at high velocity through the house and yard without a seeming care in the world. WE KNOW DIFFERENT.
The breed is HIGHLY INTELEGENT, very careing, funny to watch and be with, and they think highly of there owners.....but remain playfull untill the end. I cannot say that of many breeds. I consider myself fortunate to own an OES, let others think what they will but i sure know different. My little 16 week old is already displaying a cunning attitude mixed with, what can only be described as high intelegence ratio. So i think it is perception of others without the first hand experience and knowledge we owners have of them. They may look stupid and feighn stupidity, but that is there camoflage and they wear it well....i expect you have all seen the *butter wouldnt melt in my mouth* look, just after doing something behind your back that they were too quick and cunning for you to see.....but you know damn well they did it...but you just cant prove it !!!!  |
