Even though you think your doctor is "creepy" the best advice I can give you is to call him NOW. You could have a clot or some other blockage, you could have appendicitis. If for no other reason than your own peace of mind - GO!

I'm not a woman, nor a doctor... but you need to see your doctor, IMHO. |
I know you say your on the pill, but they are not 100%...any chance you could be pregnant, pain in the abdomen can be any numbers of things.
Gas, Ovulation, Apendix, Ectopic pregnancy, cysts, endrometrious, all but the gas would need to be seen by a dr. Why don't you go see someone else if you don't like yours?? But mid cycle pain, is usually ovulation...is it one sided, if you lay down you may feel a small lump near the egg sack...it swells a little before the egg releases...can be quite painful, I've had to call in sick for work and in school missed a couple days because i had no idea what was happening. Now that it comes mid cycle, I take some tylenol and ride it out. But when it first happened i did see my dr....it is important to rule out any underlining issues...you don't want to make the mistake of ignoring a serious thing, esp if it out of norm for your body. |
i know in chicago there are a lot of womens health centers that cater to womens needs in a very respectful and caring manner. i dont know if they have them in your area but i would recommend doing a google search to find out. im guessing there is at least a planned parenthood in your area.
otherwise i recommend an emergency room or your doctor asap. good luck |
I agree get to the doctor ASAP!!!!!
You can get pregnant on the pill, I had 2 freinds that did. or it could be anyone of the many things mentioned. If you don't like your Dr. find a new one. But PLEASE get help now. |
I think you all are right, it seems to just be getting worse. I am at work right now, and i think my coworker is gonna take me, i don't want to drive. I am 100% sure it's not any sort of pregnancy, my fiance and i are abstinent. But the mid cycle ovulation thing could be pretty close to the truth i am guess. I am off to teh DR,
Thank you all i am really grateful Shannon |
Please let us know how you are!!!!
hope everything is ok. |
YES!!!please keep us all up on whas going on w/ ya..... If you dont like your creepy Dr.,please change docs and find one your 100%comfy w/ thats so important for us women too do.So how aobut going to the ER?Urgent care?Once your ok please think about changeing docs. |
I'm glad you are leaving work to go seek medical treatment. Let us know how you are doing and please find another doctor if yours is creepy. It's so important that you feel comfortable with your doctor. |
I have that kind of excruciating pain every month at mid cycle and again when I get my period. It's horrible. I had surgery last year that removed tons of scar tissue that had built up in my entire abdomen to attempt to correct what what causing the pain however, it didn't help at all, so I'm no further ahead.
I'm sorry you're not feeling well, but as others have said, I hope you do go to a doctor soon. I don't want to spook you, but there is a possibility of infection too, of the ovaries or tubes etc, which many women never know about and then realize years later when they try unsuccesfully to have children. Good luck |
My understanding too is that if you are childless, the older you get the worse the cramps get. Mine have been getting worse too as I'm aging and now at 39, menopause is looking pretty good to me!

Forget the doctor, I would go to emergency. Let me tell you why. The description you gave is the symptoms of an ovarian cyst that has burst is is about to. I've been there and let me tell you, the pain is horrendious. I have a very high pain tolerance and than brought me to me knees begging the DR's to put an gun to my head to put me out of my misery. It burst in the middle of the night and I woke screaming. I crawled to the toilet thinking its going to come from either end, I eventualy had to call me Mom at 3:30 am to take me to the hospital. I couldn't stand, sit, laydown, be in the fetal position was the best when I wasn't have a "contraction" cuz that is exactyl what it felt like. I was told the exrucaiting pain is from the fluid in the cyst hitting your system. I've had 2 more since May of 2003 that had to surgically removed (they were the size of golf balls) and only one was detected thru the ultrasound. ( i go over 6 months for an ultrasound). I was on the pill for 12 years and then was on the Depro shot for 3 (It was great, not peroid for 3 years)and they think the shot may have brought the cysts on and it took over 1.5 years to get it out of my system. I don't recommend it to anyone. I don't know what else to tell you but from your symptoms I would say that thats what it is and they do undetected. I never knew I had one until it burst. |
That's a good point... I have had an ovarian cyst as well, when I was pregnant with my first, and it burst. I had to be taken to hospital because I thought I was in labor, but it was just the cyst.
I don't think that only happens to childless women Verve, in regards to cramps getting worse. I've had 3 kids and they have gotten worse and worse ever since. Even worse again since I had my tubes tied. |
I too experience an ovarian cyst burst.
Not a fun experience. Especially since I was writhing in pain on the floor of the emergency room waiting room...for 3 hrs, crying, passing out, because I couldn't deal with the pain... Another hour waiting to see a Dr and then finally the pain meds. I thought I was going to die. It could have been my appendix...thank god it wasn't in that Hospital they probably would have let me die slowly...in their waiting room. Basically a cramping that kept getting worse until I couldn't move anymore. I wasn't even in that much pain during childbirth....lol Elissa |
I was lucky. My Mom drive up into the ambulance bay cuz I couldn't even walk. I was doubled over. As soon they wheeled me into the ER thank god there was a female doctor at the desk. I got a bed right away and drugs with 30 minutes, only after I told the Intern to put a gun to my head. He was trying to straighten out my legs and push on my stomach. I just about punched him. Then he asked what does it feel like. My reply being the smart*** that I am said "Like I have to let a big fart out or I'm giving birth"
Dr "Does it hurt?" Me "No, I'm crying cuz it feels so F****** good, What do you think?" My Mother was so embarrassed but she told the dumb*** that I can handle alot and obviously it hurt cuz she never reacts like this. Needless to say, everytime I moved the entire day I got a shot of Demrol and gravol in my IV between ultrasounds, bloodtests, xrays and being woken up. |
Hey it's me. Well i went to my weirdo doc and he said he didn;t know what it was, so i said screw you i m not coming back, had my finace get out of class and get me, he brought me to the er. If ya'll didn't know i have been positivley deathly afarid of big hospitals, it's a very long sad story. I went anyway by this time i could hardly walk, christopher carried me in and i was shown a bed immedatly. they did some test and most came back inconclusive. They think that there is a section of my intestine that is very weak, i am going in for that xray thing on mon. But basically they gave me some pain pills that knowcked me out. I had just been to my annual with my gyno and she found nothing unusual. I don't know though, christopher would remember more about the prognosis than me, i was really out of it. There is still pain, and cramping but nothing liek before. Thats why they think it has to do with my intestines b/c since then they haven't let me eat anything. I seem to remember my dad having this prob;em.

Owwwwww Sorry you're still not feeling well. Please keep us posted! |
Shannon, please please please go find yourself a new general physician. Someone that you are comfortable with and can talk to. You should always feel comfortable going to you doctor when stuff starts to bother you or if you have a question. Once this is over and you have a little time check out your options and go have a physical while you're well, so that the doctor can get a baseline read on your health.
I hope you get a diagnosis and are back to good health soon |
Shannon - I do hope you're feeling better!
I'm not a health care professional and by no means intend to alarm you, but your symptoms sound similar to something my sister was diagonsed with five years ago - Chrons Syndrome. She went to ER with very similar circumstances, thinking she had a ovarian cyst and ended up having emergency surgery where she had a large section of her small intestine removed. Make sure you get the treatment you need!! |
Update:
Well i am going in to the docs today at 10am. he pain definitley decreased over the weekend. The Doc has put me on a very restrictive diet, consisting of very natural gentle foods. They are not quite sure what to make of it. So i guess we'll just have to wait and see. My dad and his dad both have had stomach ulcer problems. I just hope it is a very easily fixable thing. The docs are really focuised though. I can tell that they are concerned. I have a long history of cysts. Don't ask me to tell you the names as they are longer than the whole alphabet and sound pretty much the same. I have had surgey twice to get rid of a persisent one that pretty much wipes me out for two weeks at a time. I have had it once right at my tail bone and another in t he crease of my armpit. They only develope in creases. I had to have surgery and the latter one, hoping it would get rid of it. now i just have a 3inch hole thati have to packwith yards and yrads of guaze. It is pretty much the grossest thing i have evre been witness to. The root systems go very deep. Ok sorry got alittle off track. The doc is worried that the roots might be causing this pain, b/c the one that it by my tail bone is showing sign s of coming back to life. So far they have no idea what causes these cyst. Well i am tired and i got to go to twon for the doc. appointment. i really appreciate everybody here shannon |
Oh, Shannon, you poor thing!! Sounds like you're in for a bit of a rough haul. Just rest and do what the dr orders! Keep us posted!
