Rain and going potty outside

So Lily is now almost 10 weeks old. She had the potty training down pretty well. Over the weekend only 2 small accidents inside and she went outside by herself the rest of the time. It rained 2 days ago and she didnt want to go outside so we had some more accidents.. ok i thought well the rain has stopped but now she still wont go out on the patio to do her business. We stand there for half an hour sometimes and I know she has to go cause she can only hold it for 20 minutes ( to the second I tell ya). So I know she has to go but she wont. Not unless I take her outside through the front door to the grass across the street, then she doesnt mind the rain. I dont know why she wont go out there anymore except to go poop and only wants outside outside. I dont recall anything happening out there to scare her or anything and she only goes out there when we are home. That is her potty spot and nothing else happens there. Any ideas you guys might have?? I also tried a half crate training thing. I left the crate with her in the laundry room where she sleeps so that she can go in whenever she wants but she now just pulls out the blankets and pees inside of it. Is this what we call reverse crate training? I remove the crate and cleaned it out so she wont get that back but my main problem is the peeing outside.. or the lack thereof. She got it this weekend and now it seems like all that hard work has gone out the window.

Anytime she goes potty make sure you connect it with a word, "potty" or "go pee" or whatever you want to use...but use the same word all the time. Give her a tasty treat and eventually she will connect the two and go to the bathroom anywhere any time you ask her to. Good way to empty her bowels before coming inside. Bosley, also, was on a 20 minutes schedule for thelongest time. Crate-training helps with getting the muscles used to "holding it", instead the pup going whenever they feel like it. Good luck!
You said she goes out there to poopy and has gone out alone. If it were me (of course I don't know all the details) but, I'd just push her out the door and let her go. Watch from where she can't see you to make certain she goes. Unless, you want to continue going to the grassy area across the street I would stop that. You don't want to start something you don't want to continue. I think its more of a "if I don't go alone mom goes with me, so Ill wait" thing. They learn at a young age how to train us. lol

All my OES came to a halt at the door when it was raining. Sometimes running into each others backends. lol
Definitely nip this habit in the bud while you can!
I have Dancer who is almost 2 years old who still has accidents in the house when it is raining outside because she will refuse to go.
Now though, if it is raining, and we take her out and she doesn't go, back in the crate and we try again later. We keep doing this until she goes, then lots of praise and a treat, and freedom. She is finally getting better about peeing in the rain, mostly because it has been raining for so many days in a row she had no choice.
My husband was to the point he wanted to hose down the part of the yard where they go just to get her used to having wet grass under her feet. (I'm glad he didn't, they find enough mud as it is)
Willoughby refused to go outside in the rain for potty and pee when he first saw rain at night. I had to "hoosh" him outside at first. He's OK now but really doesn't like to get wet. He'll be 7months next week. Lynda :D
I kinda did the opposite of most that posted here...dog goes outside..so did I. Yikes, boots, coat prepared by the back door...shivers...I dislike standing in the rain..guess I'd dislike it more if I had to do my business out there too..ha ha!

As soon as I go out...all my boys race to go outside too....all do their stuff even if they hadn't asked which means...good get it over with at the same time. I found it saved time far better than if I stood by the door and waited for them to make up their mind to go out...especially when they were little...now it seems they go out more often on their own as the rain is not that big of a deal...after all "mom" is out there quite often. I don't stand either...but walk around the yard. I found if I stood they stood too, waiting to see if we were going out the back gate or ? Walking around made them sort of rush as they think they're going to miss out on something.

I should mention I live in the rainy Pacific Northwest ..so chances are it's usually raining a few months of the year..so I kinda had no choice.

Okay so maybe they trained me! Ha ha! I also have a huge rabbit pen out in the back..lucky Puff and Squeak they live in the converted play house in the backyard. Has additional box in there for sleeping and area for them to run around in, indoors and outdoor area. So they are safe from the elements and fortified with two layers of heavy duty wire so also safe from other creatures. I go twice daily and the area is big enough for a few people to walk in and sit with them. So guess that doesn't count as I have to go outside anyhow for feedings and cuddles.

Good luck to you and maybe it's cause she's still little and it will get better with time. If perhaps you show you have no aversion to rain she'll pick up that from you.

Marianne and the boys
Well, I solved the problem. Being a girly girl she though that me cleaning the patio 2 times a week wasnt enough so I cleaned it a third time and bleached it really well like I always do and she was fine again. I guess the rain made it smell dirt again eventhough I had cleaned it two days prior. I suppose I will have to clean it every other day. Once it was cleaned she went out there on her own again, no accidents so far. Wooo Hooo!! Thanks for all the advice. I guess I was looking into the problem just a little too much.
Both of our sheepies are trained to go on command when they go outside for bathroom breaks. However, if it is raining hard, or a thunderstorm, Jack will NOT go outside at all. He will have accidents in the house during loud rains and storms. Annabelle will go hop and play with no problems and happy to bounce back inside all wet.
Jack even tiptoes in the morning dew, he is such silly boy. Gotta love em though.
