Now, here's the kicker. Layla's formerly very grey, light grey in places, coat is now black as a puppy's and silky! It very nice and very soft and lovely but I was just wondering if anyone else has had an experience with their sheepie like this. Now my puppy is the one with the graying coat and my older Layla is becoming a pup again in both looks and personality! lol |

Hi,
What wonderful news that Layla is doing so well and almost experiencing eternal youth! I enjoyed reading your post and don't have much to offer in regards why that happened. My previous OES Shaggy was also on meds for a long time and she too had a more "blackish" coat. Perhaps the meds have something to do with it? Can't wait to see pics of Layla and the pup! Welcome to the forum! Marianne and the boys |
Meds, changes in diet, stress, illness and even weather can cause noticeable changes in an oes' coat. As they age they often go through stages of lightening, then darkening again on and off throughout their lives.
I'm glad to hear Layla is doing so well |
Had the mobile groomer here today and asked him about Lays new black coat. He said that melatonin production slows as a dog gets older and the thyroid meds must have turned it back up again.
COOL. Could I get ME some of that! LOL |
Glad she's doing well! Join us and post some pictures of your babies! |
My Luke and Rosco have been on thyroid meds for quite awhile. The initial bald patches have all grown in black, it's very common. |
