Gosh, I can't believe my baby is turning one. Seems like he just joined the family, but yet, he's such a huge part of the family that I can't imagine our lives without him now. |

Great!!! We can share a birthday cake
That's my birthday TOO!!!!!!!!!! (And it was my grandfathers bd as well) Maybe we can borrow that 3D cake pan from Sheepieboss! |
HI...I make a "birthday" cake for my dogs. You take 1 pound lean ground turkey, mix with a bit of shredded cheddar cheese and a beaten egg. Put in a loaf pan, bake at 350 for about an hour (watch it after about 45 minutes). After the "cake" has cooled off, I take a block ( i don't know what weight that is) of fat free cream cheese, let it warm a bit and beat it til its plyable and use it as frosting. I've taken some of the ff cream cheese with food color and decorated the "cake" with it, but Pirate's beard ended up blue!!!!!! The cats love it too! Hope this works for you! |
Actually I think it was Sheepieboss who posted the recipe. |
I use reg. flour, baking powder almost everything you would use for reg. cake except no sugar ect...........I use potted meat or baby food meat...be creative use peanut butter or bananas or apples for flavor........peanut butter softened makes a good frosting mixed with applesauce is even better....or yogurt |
Yep, it was me, sorry I missed the initial post. I have 2 recipes from "Floozies in the Kitchen and Dudes at the Stove" a recipe book originally put out by SWOESR but when that folded the left over books went to So Cal OES rescue and I don't know if they have any more copies. Anyway:
Cake I 1 1/2 c. flour 1 1/2 tsp baking powder 1/2 c. butter 1/2 c. corn oil 1 jar meat baby food strained 4 eggs 2 strips beef jerky Preheat oven to 325. Grease and flour and loaf pan, 8x5x3 inch. Cream butter until smooth. Add oil, baby food, and eggs. Mix until smooth. Mix dry ingredients into beef mixture until batter is smooth. Crumble and fold in beef jerky. Pour batter into loaf pan. Bake 1 hour 10 minutes. Cool on wire rack 15 minutes. Ice with plain yogurt or cottage cheese. This was from Karen in AZ, mother of Quiburis Cake II 1 (13 oz.) can premium dog food 1 cup flour 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 lb. beef liver 2 eggs, separated 12 oz. low fat or nonfat cream cheese softened. Preheat oven 350. Butter 9 inch round cake pan. Simmer the beef in a little water until cook. Cool and gring in food processor until a smooth paste (discard the water?). Mix with canned dog food. Beat the egg whites to soft peaks and fold into the liver mixture. Blend in flour and baking powder being careful not to over blend. . Bake 35-45 minutes until toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool and frost with softened cream cheese. This from Justin Fuhrman If your puppers like fruit try this: 1 large or 2 small apples 3 carrots or summer squash 3 Tbs honey 2 3/4 cups water or milk 1/4 tsp vanilla 2 beaten eggs 4 1/2 c. whole wheat flour 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp nutmeg This can be made into muffins or into a loaf pan for a fruit cake. Bake 350 for an hour or so. Frost if desired. It is rather dense, but is more likely to be shared with the uprights than the other two. |
Thanks for the recipes. I'm sorry to say he never made it to see two. |
I saw that too. |
Oh, I'm so sorry. I didn't put the request and the dog name together... He broke all our hearts.......he was just too young. |
