Yes, we use a bowl - the biggest one we could find! Its about 12 inches (30cm) in diameter!!
What's a Drip Waterer? I get the image of a sheepie using a giant size one of those things we use on our Chinchilla cages!?! ROFL |
that is what it is! we had one for a bull dog, it is like a giant rabbit water-er.
your sheepie is gorgeous, his chin looks nice and clean, how do you keep it that way? I have a blue and white persian, her chin and paws are brown from dipping them in her water. |
ironically enough, the answer is water!
We used to use cornstarch / baby powder once it a while on a damp beard (simply rub a little in and brush it out and the staining goes). These days however, we find that simply ensuring that the water in his bowl is fresh and clean, and also spending time with the comb and brush on his beard every day (which he loves) does the trick just as well.... |
I use a bowl too. Every time he drinks, he washes his chin at the same time. So I try to change the water very often so he will have fresh and clean (not mud in the button of the bowl).
Also, I think it will be very hard not getting his chin yellow. |
My vet said most of the biege color on Abbi's beard was from saliva with histamines in it, so I change her water often too.
We tried to use a drip water system with Abbi once. We used milk bottles. Abbi chewed that bottle to shreds. Tried a large 3 l coke bottle, same thing. She was only about 3 months old and did she love plastic bottles. To this day that is one of her most favorite chew toys. By the way, a sheepie can drink over a gallon of water a day down her in Texas. My girl is still going through almost a gallon and it in the 40's and 50's F here. If you can get the pup to use a drip waterer you will be surprise how much they leak. We eneded up putting a bowl under ours to catch the leaks, and Abbi just drank out of the bowl. |
