When Bailey gets riled up we usually take him to the dog park and let him run himself until he asks to be taken home. Is that an option for you? He's usually good with 2 visits a week. |

With 2 toddlers and a nearly 100 pound dog, it's probably not a good idea - lol I'd love to be able to do stuff like that with him still though. It was easy when my hubby was home. We have 1 acre, and he's on a 20 ft run a good bit during the day, so he does get some exercise. It's just cooled off here and he's gone wild, lol |
Are you looking for another puppy? If you're not breed specific on a second dog, how about a dog from the shelter? That way you can pick out the kind that suits you and Jasper best and give a needy dog a good home too. It's a win win situation! |
Wow, it must be so hard knowing he will be away for so long, I feel for you.
I would bet Jasper just is enjoying the cooler air... how old is he now? Maybe he's ready for adult food not puppy food? Has he been neutered already? (sorry i can't remember) |
Between the kids, Jasper, and the cats, it's REALLY hard to find a pet that will suit our needs. The ones that like dogs and children, don't like cats. The ones that are okay with animals, don't like kids. Ones that don't like kids, like other animals. I'm sure you get the picture, lol Also, all they have are large dogs. I check their website all the time. I think we're looking for something smaller and semi-low maintenance this time, but yet, still able to keep up with Jasper. Mini. schnauzer, mini poodle, min pin, jack russell, boston terrier, sheltie, & corgis are what we're looking at now. It'll probably be 6 months or longer before we actually buy another.
Jasper is 11 months old today! *cry* He's growing up too fast. He hasn't been neutered yet, mostly because we've been toying around with the idea of showing him (at least at the local shows). We joined the local kennel club, but we've only made it to a meeting or two before hubby left. I haven't been able to make it since then. If we decide to give up the idea of showing him, we will have him fixed. I'm almost there, if I can only talk hubby into not doing it... |
