Credit Card Alert
I recently charged a purchase at Autozone on my Master card for $9.58. The clerk returned my card and the receipt, which indeed indicated the amount of $9.58. Periodically I check my GM account on line. Yesterday I noticed a discrepancy in account totals of $7.32. Upon examination of the line items I found that Autozone had charged my account $16.60. I notified GM and put the charge in dispute. Today I showed the invoice to Autozone hoping to resolve the dispute. The clerk indicated there was nothing they could do since the invoice showed the correct amount had been charged. He did call attention to the last 4 digits of my MC account as shown on the receipt, which did not match the numbers on my card and pointed out that the charge was to Visa. I don't own a Visa card. Fortunately when I relayed the discussion to GM they said they would completely waive the charges since it would cost them more to trace the problem than the amount in question. What happened? Apparently the clerk was processing several charge cards and charged my purchase to another customer's card and the other's purchase to my card. How often have you given your card to a clerk, waitress, etc. who leaves with it, then returns the card and charge slip to you. You check the amount on the slip and think all is OK. Next time check the last four digits as recorded and the type of card, to verify the charges were indeed charged to your account. I suspect many people don't audit their monthly statements, and this error occurs more often than we might think. |

| Well, I jjust had $1300.00 stolen form my acct...the bank thinks it was from a waitress or waiter....so just be careful. |

 NEVER would have thought of checking THAT!!!! By golly you are right!!! Just last night I gave my card to a waiter!!!!

| I havent gotten my bank statement yet, although they did say they put the money back in the account...I let you know.... |
