OESCA Breeder Referral Chairperson

Hi,

I have been here awhile, but haven't "seen" this page yet. I guess I never scrolled down far enough... me bad..

Anyways, I am from Sweden. Moved to Los Angeles at the ripe age of 20, back in 1987. And no, it doesn't bother me to post my age, never understood why that is such a big deal for many people in the US...? Don't remember that being an issue in Sweden. 8)
I lived in LA for 8 years and one year just south of San Francisco. Moved to Nebraska in 1995, by the referral of ONE person who grew up here. When Nebraska was referred to me, I didn't know where it was! 8O
I am not a big fan of Nebraska, but I like the town I live in, Papillion. It's a good place for my girls to grow up in and school's are great. My girls are 15 and 10. They are both from my 1st husband and now I'm in the process of being divorced by my 2nd husband. I don't think I'm going to get married again. As a matter of fact, I'm going back to my maiden name and will keep it that way.
I have three OES. We got Rians Puffer in April 2003, she was 3 months old. Then we got Rians Autumn Butterfly in December 2003, she had just turned 2 years old. Last, but not least, we rescued Otis from Missouri in May 2004, he was almost 8 years old. With the awesome assistance from Grannie Annie at New England OES Rescue.

That's my story, the short version.

Regards,
Tarja

Tarja -- it is very cool to know more about you. That is quite a diverse set of places you've lived. Have your daughters been to sweden? how did you become the breeder referral person?

Curious to know more. . .
It is nice to hear more about you Tarja! :)
That is a lot of moving around... I know the feeling.
When I was still married to my 1st husband, I worked for Southwest Airlines. Me and my oldest daughter went to Sweden every year for a month. It was sooo cheap to fly being an airline employee!
After we had moved to Nebraska and had our 2nd daughter, we actually all moved to Sweden for 1 year.
I have not been back to Sweden since 1997. I am planning on going there within the next two years. HAVE to make that work!

The Board had been discussing having a person who doesn't breed as the Breeder Referral Chairperson and I just happened to be at the right place at the right time. All of my OES are spayed and neutered, and they always will be. IF I ever did have puppies, I would end up keeping all of them. No way could I sell them, they'd be my babies.
Officially welcome, Tarja! It is so nice to get more of your story!

How is Butterfly making out?

Chris
Thank you for the welcome!

You know, we stopped running her in the backyard and just take her for walks and she has not favored that leg for 3 days now! I have a feeling that was the problem. We are still taking her to the vet tomorrow, just to make sure, but we feel pretty confident the running and the quick turns she was making was the problem.

Thank you for caring! :P
Hi Tarja,

I've read some of your previous post and glad you joined us as your experience and insight is an asset to this forum.

I'm Marianne mom of two upright boys Blair and Todd, and Merlin, Panda and Blue.
Merlin and Panda are OES and Blue is a 15 year old Heeler/Lab Oes wannabee as he's lived with them all of his life. He grew up with Shaggy my previous OES. :D

There's also the cats...MamaKat, Lil Girl, Paris and Daisy, and the rabbit , Puff and guinea pig, Squeak.

I fostered for a couple years and like you couldn't part with anything that came into my home. All but Merlin were previous rescues.

Well now that we've made the "official" intros it's nice to meet you and I look forward to reading your post.

That's great! Another example of OES.org to the rescue!! (I'd like to use a little sheepie superhero in a cape emoticon right here -- Danita? Pretty please?)

Let us know how it goes at the vet. . .
It's nice to get to know more about you Tarja! We're so glad you've joined us. I love the pics of your babies that you've posted. They're all beautiful. :D
You guys are making me feel like a celebrity.

I am glad to be a part of this forum. There are a lot of good things going on here. Lets see if we can give this site some more recognition....

Keep up all the good work you folks do!!! :clappurple:
