Sorry...I'm no help here...I cheat and use the frozen ones in the grocery store. Just pour and bake! |
Try using a basic quiche Lorraine, leave out the bacon. Steam some asparagus spears and arrange on the top. Or fold in steamed broccoli and sauteed red peppers. Or spinach, sliced mushrooms and finely diced onion sauteed together is good, maybe try it with gruyere(sp?) cheese. Or leeks, those are good also. |
Deana, this is out of a junior league cookbook...havent tried it, but it looks really good...
5 layer quiche 4 4 oz can whole green chilis 1 lb bacon crisp cooked and crumbled 1 sm onion chopped 1 lb monterray jack cheese shredded 1 lb sharp cheddar cheese shredded 12 eggs preheat oven to 350. slit green chilis legnthwise, but not all the way through and lay flat over the bottom of a 9x13 pan. sprinkle with the bacon, onion, jack cheese, cheddar cheese, in that order.whisk eggs in a bowland por over layers. bake for 45 min or till tookpick comes out clean. for variety add some of your own ingredients prior to the cheese layers. |

I love Quiche and make it often for my husband, it's his favorite Christmas morning breakfast. He feels cheated if he dosen't get some!
Simple this is to make two at one time..... don't worry, you'll eat them Pre heat oven to 350 degrees One pk of deep dish frozen pie shells/ Par bake (about 8 minutes) I poke a fork around to make sure it won't puff up. In a mixing bowl mix 1/2 pint of heavy cream 7 ir 8 eggs 1/4 to 1/2 cup white wine 1/4 teaspoon salt and some pepper to taste using your french whip mix this up. Now for the filling... You can use anything, if I'm having a dinner party, I will do Broc and cheese as my veggie to go with dinner But Lee's very favorite is Crab, Mushroom and cheese. Saute your mushrooms till the moisture is gone, pat dry your crab or shrimp if you like or both. Place the crab (or shrimp) in the par cooked pie shells, with the mushrooms, then sprinkle grated cheese over the top 1/2 to 3/4 cup per quiche is fine. Place pie shells on baking sheet, open the door to the oven, place the baking sheet with the shells on the oven shelf and then fill with the egg mixture, dividing it between the two shells. Bake at 350 for about 50 minutes. I like making two at the same time, they are great hot out of the oven or cold the next day and even reheat really well. Served with fresh fruit for breakfast or salad for lunch or dinner. Then enjoy The wine cuts the eggyness of the custard. I learned this method about 30 years ago and it is the best. But remember, you can put in any filling you like, ham and cheese. Veggies and cheese, smoked salmon and???? If you read my instructions and it doesn't make sense, please ask for a clarification. I make this without a recipie and often will over look something I do naturally |
Oh Boy! I know what I am having Christmas morning!
I think crab and shrimp will make the occasion extra special. Thanks a bunch! Sounds wonderful Shellie |
boy that sounds good, shrimp and crab, yummy. I will copy and print it out
thanks for taking the time to get it to me! |
Please enjoy. Try to make it before you "have" to make it. Remember, it's for two quiches made at the same time. If you want to make only one then it's half the heavy whipping cream, half the eggs and half the wine. But I find that there is no waste and if you are going to heat the oven to make one, you might as well make two. |
MMmmm shrimp and crab. This would be perfect to make as miniatures for a party. |
Deana,
I was just looking on foodnetwork and they have a whole section on quiche today! http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/lf_quick_easy |
I just like the ones you buy frozen, I love the ones with spinach, onion and cheese. |
Ha, I was reading this, not really paying attention, and thinking, gee this sounds good . . . wait, this sounds familiar . . .
It IS good - I can personally vouch for it! |
