I was thinking how nice it would be to win. I could hire a nanny for Dudley when I am at work. OR...I could take some time off and build a house for us to live in somwhere that is more ideal. Our living situation is kinda blah right now - I live in NE NJ and I can't afford an apartment on my own up there. So I rent a room in a house for us. The housing market is fairly untouchable right now, unless I win the lottery or something. hee hee ~Katie. |

Katie, I wish you luck!!!! |
I'd hire a live-in groomer On the radio people were being interviewed about what they would do if they won, without fail they all said they would keep a few million and donate the rest They were on live radio, what else would they say ? |
Wouldn't it be wonderful to win something like that. Wow, I would hire someone to clean litter boxes...LOL I guess with money like that, I could have an entire cleaning crew. Sounds like a dream come true. It would be wondeful if someone generous did win, and would donate some of their winnings to lots of people in need.
Also, another sheepie of two and a personal professional groomer to follow them and Jack and Annabelle around would be great. What would everyone do if they won the money? |
We would have such an OES rescue!
I'd definitely put half to 3/4's in the bank and live off the interest but you know you'd have to take at least some of it and just have some fun. Ron, if I win I'll get you your new motorhome. Driver and all! |
I live in VA where they don't have the powerball (basically all the states surrounding us do...) so I had my brother in DC buy me a ticket. I'm feeling lucky...
I would pay off my student loans...I would actually go back and finish my master's because I wouldn't have to worry about even more student loans...I would pay off all my debt...buy my parents a house...and get some awesome shoes! And purses...and coats...and JEANS!!! Oh yeah, and give to charity, of course! |
I have visions of a huge fenced yard with lots of green grass, kept up by a gardner, of course. A state of the art grooming facility with personal groomers for each of my babies. Ahhhh...yes...dreams of grandeur.
|
My son's friend's Dad won 84 million a few years ago. Never played until the week before when he bought a ticket and won $150,000.00. The following week he bought easy pick tickets and won. With all the publicity they never even went back to their old house, just bought a new one. |
I'm such a big spender.
I was folding clothes the other day when there was a news bit about the lottery. The first thing that came to mind was "Gee, I could buy Ronnie new underwear !!" Think I would have to start a sheepie rescue farm with full time groomers! And send new toys to all the forum sheepies! |
I've got it all planned out! We would pay off our mortgage, our line of credit, and our cars, pay off Spencer's student and car loans, set aside enough to pay for the rest of Sarah's college, give my in-laws enough so they wouldn't have to worry about anything for the rest of their lives, buy everyone new cars, add a monster addition to the house (wouldn't move - love where we are, just want a bigger house), have a professional interior decorator come in and do everything, hire a full time groomer for Drez, put a bunch in the bank just to live off the interest, give enough money to our church to pay for all the upcoming capital projects we've got planned, give bunches more to a variety of charities too numerous to mention. After all that, we would buy homes in all our favorite vacation spots - Cape May, NJ, Key West, FL, Sandbridge Beach, VA. Then we'd buy a home for Spencer, and when Sarah gets out of college and settles where she wants to be, we'd buy a house for her.
Oh yeah - and did I mention that it would take me a nano second to quit work??? Chris |
Assuming you'd take the money instead of the life time payout, then paying taxes, you'd still have around 130 mil. I could live with that! The last big winner was here in Albuquerque. He's an Air Force sargent with a young family. He is the second big winner from this city....a group of Sandia National Labs janitors won several years ago. Each went home with about 6 mil.
Yes, if I won, first I'd move all my dogs before claiming the money...and not go back home. Too dangerous. |
LOLOLOL! I no sooner hit the "send" button and the radio guy said the cash out is $164 mil....OK, so I figured they'd take out more tax. The other option is a 20 year buy out......hmmm, $17 mil a year.....minus taxes each year.... Oh to have to make that decision! |

LOL - me too! I have a great job, but there are so many other things that I would love to have the leisure time to do! I've already promised a friend from Chicago that I would buy her a house down here if I win - she's already picked out the house. That's optimism for you! |
Buy me a house too? I'd only need it for a few months a year? LOL. |
If I won the first thing Id do is add another bathroom...sometimes one JUST isnt enough...lol...Id keep my job, I love it. Brian would retire. Id buy Brian a beach house. The house would be painted inside and out...buy my mom her house and pay for every kid in my extended familys' college education...THEN, Id buy Jimmy Choo shoes, lots of them! |
I think I'd like to buy a lot of land and build all my friends a house so we had our own community and then we'd all do charity work so none of us had to do 'real' work anymore. Anybody want to sign up? |
Sign me up Mandy! Shall I start packing? |
Can I wear my Jimmies???? Im in... |
Are you kidding? We'll have Mr Choo design a shoe just for people in our community.
What else will we need? Maybe a restaurant with professional chefs so we don't have to cook if we don't want to. We'll also keep a full kitchen for when the feeling strikes. |
Im definately in...Deana and I will design the kitchen of all of our dreams.. could you just imagine the sheepie play ground? What a sight.. |
We'll need separate quarters for all the live in groomers, and our own vet would be nice Could we have a Viking range(commerical) in the kitchen? |
There's no place in this town to buy a powerball ticket, and I'm sure I would have won |
Ohhhhh How fun! This is Grant and I's favorite conversation! What would we do if we won the lottery!!!!
I would want to move back to Winnipeg to be with my family and have a huge house to have all the family holiday get-togethers!!! Grant has bigger ideas...and Winnipeg, Manitoba is not one of them! He thinks I'm nuts...but loves me anyway! Who needs money when you've got great friends, a wonderful family and SHEEPDOGS!!!!! I just want to be closer to them...sigh...well I guess the money would help...that way there would be no work to get in the way of all the above! Good luck everyone!!!!! |
Well people, we had one number on each of three tickets. So sad, nothing for the sheepdogs this time.
Have to start shooting for the next big jackpot. |
The sheepies still have us ONE person won it all and it wasn't me. |
One person in OREGON won it ALL. Well, I guess Duds isn't getting a nanny. Guess that means we're not getting a house, either. Back to looking on Craigslist.org... I don't need hundreds of millions....tens of millions would be good enough. Just enough to fix my car and buy a house and invest a little bit so I can work at a job that's more suited to my skill set. Is there any advice for a single dog mom trying to make it work in life? ~Katie. |

Yeah...win the lottery!! Ha ha ha. Sad to say I didn't win either. I had 2 of the numbers, though...better than I usually do! |

Katie, this may be more extreme than you're looking for but - do you have really strong ties to New Jersey? Because unless you really need to be there for business or personal reasons, I'd suggest you look for a lower cost of living area. I grew up in central NJ, my family is still there. And I live in a house that is twice the size of my brother's for half the price. A few years ago when I still lived in Chicago my company was talking to me about moving back to work in the NY office and there was no way I could make it work financially - the NY metro area is just outrageously expensive. |
HAHA! I moved up here from the New Brunswick area. I got a new job in '03 in Old Tappan, and I found myself commuting 90 minutes each way! Then one day, I flipped my car on the parkway. I don't know how it happened, but I suspect the long commute everyday had something to do with it. So I found as cheap a place as I could up here, and I moved. I'm sure glad I don't have the long commute now, with the price of gas and all...however... Struggling to find a new place is driving me a little nutty. My friend has a duplex in Nyack, NY, and she explained once that she has to charge "fair market value" in rent, else she is penalized by "the man". I guess that's what happens when you're on the up-and-up. Rent doubled when I moved, and it would double again if I moved into a small 1 bdrm place.. I am workgin towards a transfer to a different office so I can move further west where it's a little cheaper. I like the company I work for now, and I like my job. I have been trying to find jobs in other places. I'm a mac tech, and the IT industry seems to be migrating to India because the companies don't want to pay the techs what their knowledge and experience is worth. I used to work as a vet tech when I was between "real jobs", but that woudl never pay enough to live. Hehe - I guess everyone has this problem at some point... ~Kt. |
I live in Oregon and my husband bought tickets yesterday, wish I could say we won, but as usual, that isn't the case, although he hasn't checked his numbers yet!! I think that someone from a very small town won, forgot the name, but it's always from some smallll town!! |
One of my thoughts was to be able to take like $100,000 or so in $100 bills up to the top of a fairly high building and watch the people below catching it as it suddenly began to rain "money." But, then I thought of the greed in people and how many people might get hurt. Took the fun right out of that thought!
Guess we'll have to keep dreamin' until our dreams become reality. Good luck next time all. |
I actually did win on the powerball #. Of course that's only $3, but that's
$2 more than I spent on the ticket in the first place! Mandy - count me in!! I'll do all the cooking and mop all the floors! I think this could work! I'll even volunteer to brush the dogs x# of hours a week. Shellie |
