Peeing in bath tub
Never fails, each and every time I put her in the tub, she will squat and pee. Doesn't matter that I just took her out to pee only minutes before her bath, she will still squat. I don't fill the tub with water as I use a sprayer, so it's not like she would have to stand in it or anything. I just wash it right down the drain. Was just curious if this is a submissive thing she is doing? She's great for grooming, no fighting or fuss at all. And this is the only thing out of the ordinary that she does. She doesn't cower down like she is afraid and doesn't fight me when I place her in the tub. Anybody else have a dog that does this? |

None of mine pee in the tub. They do seem to need to go as soon as they're out of the tub, though. It's as if the bathing process somehow brings it out (no pun intended).  So, I generally towel them dry and then take them out to pee before starting to dry them. |
| Well I do have a Boxer that will run and jump on our bed and pee just as soon as she is out of a bath. I learned real fast to crate straight away until she is dry.
I just found this behaviour odd and wondered if anybody else had ever experienced this with their own sheepies. |
| It may be the warm water typically used in a bath/shower that hastens the need to pee. Or perhaps the sound of running water? That seems to make humans need to pee.
All I know is that my Izzie will also pee in the tub. Amanda |
| Warm water is actually what calms 3 of our relative's dogs. Otherwise, they will pee. Yuki and my little one peed at first (even if she just went), but it was usually the second the bath was finished. They both get baths pretty regularly now, so it just grew out of them. I make the drying (w/towel) pretty fast, so yuki can go outside and pee right after the bath.
It seems like a lot of dogs have to pee when they are stressed (a bath, grooming, etc). |
| Lol. This immediately made me think of my niece's cousin, who I caught peeing in the tub when they were in the bath together. Being childless, I freaked out but the moms just took it in stride, like, yeah, that happens.

At slumber parties when we were kids we used to put the hand of who ever was asleep in a bowl of warm water....... it was supposed to make them pee the bed  I don't remember it ever working  |
