Anyone know...

...how to go about getting insured to pet sit at people's homes (where I go in 3-4 times a day to feed them, check on them, take them out, etc...)? I used to do this for clients, but they were all friends so I never had to hassle with insurance and stuff. Now, I'm thinking it would be a good way to earn a little extra money once my hubby returns home. He works nearly every holiday anyway, so we'll be in town for them all. I know it's something I enjoyed doing. I know I won't get rich off it, but I'm just looking for a way to help out a little around here and still be a SAHM to my boys too. Has anyone done this? Thanks in advance. :)

I would contact your local insurance agency and I'm sure they can point you in the right direction. Good luck.

Hi Gail,

Try Pet Sitters International---

www.petsit.com

National Pet sitters

www.petsitters.org

for info on the career/insurance etc

Good luck!
Thanks girls! I know I haven't seen anyone around here doing this, and I imagine with the AFB here, there might be a demand for it. I know I'd rather my animals stay at home than take them to the vet's office to kennel (only other option here). I'm not planning on taking up anything else until Jason gets back, lol, but I do want to start looking into it. :)
Do you live in the city? Or in the country? You could set up a mini version of a boarding kennel...taking the dogs into your home for weekends, Jasper gets a playdate...and if it's miserable out you don't have to leave your home to walk the dogs.

I believe tho you might need a liscense to do something like this. I'm still considering it if we move to the country. I saw one acreage for sale with an established boarding kennel with it.

I live in the city limits of a very rural town. I'm not sure I could get away with that...I'll check into it though.
