Right now I'm using the Gilad (aerobics) tapes, Stott pilates and Wai Lana yoga. Would love to add some new ones.... Love to vary the workouts, what exercise tapes/dvds do you find effective and enjoy. |

I've never tried any, but that has been on my mind a lot lately. I really need to get back into shape, and have been looking at gyms etc and have been considering exercise dvd's as well. |

There are many options. A good catalog and guide is www.collagevideo.com I'm currently using many tapes by Gilad. Very effective workouts, just need a few dumbbells for some of the exercises. www.bodiesinmotionwithgilad.com For yoga, I'm currently using: www.wailana.com If this winter is anything like the winter wonderland of last year, I figure I'll be ready with an indoor program ! |
You know, exercise videos are one of the few things I think infomercials are great for. I couldn't choose one just from a catalogue, I have to see it in action and hear what it is designed for, what it in particular will help me acheive. |

In the Collage catalog there are some video clips of the many of the exercise videos. It nice they rate the videos, but like you, I would rather see it in action if I'm going to purchase it! Zahra (not logged in ) |
I love my tae bo tape ...it really works! |
I really love Pilates! Though, I have to confess, the DVD has some dust on it!
I just saw an article in Animal Wellness this month on Doga, yoga classes with your dog! Now that would be interesting! It's supposed to be very popular...not in my town though! |
I SWEAR by Billy Blank Tae Bo tapes, if you want to do an at home workout. It is a very intense workout. You start off slow and then work you way up to a higher level. I used to do them alot, but then started going to kick boxing classess at the gym. In addition to the classes, I do the Windsor Pilates tapes 2x per week.
Kick-boxing is a very good overall work-out, and there is not a lot of jumping, so it relative easy on the knees. |
I love the Wia Lana tapes.
Our library has a very nice selection of videos and DVDs. It is nice to be be able to prescreen and see which ones you like. |
I got two good Pilates tapes at Walmart. I really like them. My Husband actually does them to. It's good for your back if you have a bad one because of the stretching and it strengthens your abs which helps with a bad back also. I would like to do the Tai Bo my friend gave me her tapes but it was confusing. They should stand behind the instructor and tape like your actually in class instead of having them face you.I must be dopic because it really messes my sense of direction up.Looks like fun though.I walk the dogs everyday about 1-2 miles but not much cardio because Mardi stops to pee on every pole and tree. |

Sorry, I have not seen this one, but it has received wonderful reviews. For someone new, I like the series by Veena and Neena. They are trained dancers , in both Middle eastern dance and dances of India. The tapes are well done, focused on safety and are excellent for your library. If you enjoy belly dance, try to find a class in your area. You really need an experienced teacher to guide you safely as you progress. Most of all, have fun!!! Thanks for all the replies, I'll check out Tae Bo ! |
Tae Bo absolutely rocks! That is a great overall workout.
There's also the New York City Ballet's workout tapes. They are very cool if you have a dance background and miss it. Also, if you have Comcast Cable and go to On Demand there are some full length workout sessions on there and you can "test drive" others like the stripper workout. (I can't remember what it's actually called. I do know it has nothing to do with painting!) |
