Christmas dinner

I know it's early but another post brought up a subject we were just talking about at home. Christmas!
I have given my family notice that Christmas is not going to be what they are used too.
Since we have such a diverse membership I was hoping you all could help me out. I would like to have an international Christmas dinner.
What are your Christmas dinner food traditions?

one thing I like to cook is a xmas goose. And sometimes a also roast venison. I like to keep it old time if possible. But a ham is nice too.
Growing up we always had wild duck and goose....my husbands family is really picky, so I usually do a pork tenderloin, twice baked potatoes and a wonderful antipasto salad.....when we celebrate (just me and Brian) I make filet mignon and lobster tail....yum
My ex Sister In Law used to make Lasagna.
For Thanksgiving my Family used to go out for Shelled Turkey is what we called it...aka Lobster

Elissa
We often do Seafood. Baked stuffed lobster
or baked stuffed shrimp, scalloped potatoes and a salad.

Other years we do a Honey Ham, sweet potatoes, and
veggies....
We have turkey at both thanksgiving and christmas, and if we bother with easter then we do ham, but most of the time we don't bother...lol...
we do the whole works

turkey
stuffing
sausages wrapped in bacon
loads of veg
roast potatoes
roast parsnips
gravy

christmas pudding
fruit cakes
yule logs (cake kind)
mince pies

thousands and thousand of calories
but hey it christmas
Oh, I come from a korean family where every meal is a feast ....so Christmas time, it's crazy. My mom tries to please everyone so she cooks korean and american.

We're not big on turkey, so we have rottisserie chicken.
oriental salad (my recipe!)
watergate salad (that marshmallow, green stuff.. yum)
stuffing (which i hate to pieces no matter who makes it)

The musts:
green bean casserole
brocolli, cheese and rice casserole

In korea, every holiday calls for this soup (called New Year's soup). It's supposed to give you long life (Adds another year to your life every time you eat it).

Followed by shrimp fried rice
regular steamed rice
egg rolls (called mondu in korea)
bulgogi
kimchi
korean fish
dubu (fried tofu stuff with korean spices)
chopchey (noodles)
Kimbap (rice with meat and veggies wrapped in seaweed in shape of tube)

....and then there are years we substitute the American chicken for grilling on the bbq. We do live in TX and all.
Yum Jo....my best friends husband is Korean and when his mom comes to visit, I have her bring me my own Kimchi......I havent had it in a while....I love that stuff....althought the candied shrimp I can do without...lol
My family's very traditional about Christmas, from the way the house is decorated, to when we open our presents, to what we eat. We usually make a roast turkey and/or baked ham, or sometimes we make a standing rib roast. Accompanied by candied yams, green bean casserole, tossed salad, stuffing. For dessert I make pumpkin pie, carrot cake, apple crisp - not all three, but those are the choices my family likes best. And, OF COURSE, about a bazillion cookies. Even though my kids are grown, they still love the choc chip cookies the best, followed by cut-outs. I make a few varieties of Italian cookies that are to die for - makes me hungry for them just thinking about them.

Christmas is my absolute favorite time of the year. Although I hate to wish the time away from fall, I can't wait!

One year my mom wanted to do something more original than the standard food we were used to. So we had a Mexican Christmas (we were in San Diego, so it was fitting) and we had taquitos and all sorts of Mexican food, and she decorated with deep purples and oranges and golds...it was a very fun, memorable Christmas...

We usually do the usual turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes...
My husband's family is big on the green bean casserole...I'd never had it before I met him (had always heard about it...)
My mom makes a really good carrot souflee that everyone loves (I'm not a huge fan, but it is always a request from everyone else)...
Hey, I'm Greek.......you know what we have for Christmas! Lamb! My favorite favorite way is a bit somewhat like gyros: .......I debone the leg (or ask your butcher if you have no idea), marinate it in lemon juice and stuff. Then take a round steak, pound it a bit, marinate it too. Put the round steak inside the lamb, roll back up and roast or put on the spit. Actually, often I just stop with the marinated butterflied leg, slap in on the BBQ. There you go.
