Introducing myself

Hi All!

Just found this forum -- and have already (hopefully) profited. The chin on my 4 month old OES (Tucker) is always stained, so I'll try a solution that someone had suggested.

We've had Tucker for 2 months now, not only are we first-time OES owners but we're also first-time dog owners! Tucker's a handful -- smart & stubborn, which seems to be common for OES (??). He's great though!

I'm sure I'll have questions soon...

Bye,
Suzanne

Suzanne -

Tucker sounds like quite a handful - but worth every minute, aren't they!?

My first OES was also my first dog of any sort, and now that I have had 3 I know that there is no other dog in the world I would rather be "owned by." Yes - they can be stubborn and YES they are very smart! Quite a combo, isn't it?

Are you planning on taking Tucker to Puppy Kindergarten? I highly recommend it. We took Guinevere (our now 13 month old little girl) when she was about Tucker's age, and it was a very good experience. Learned a lot and the socialization with other dogs was good for her. You might check with your vet to see if there is a program in your area like that.

Good luck with Tucker, and we will be looking forward to more stories!

Cheers!
Kevin and Guinevere Z. ("Who are you calling stubborn, Dad?")
Hi Kevin!

I'm pretty sure you're on the OES-List, right? I'm also on that list but haven't introduce myself yet... I guess I should do it soon!

Tucker's already been to puppy kindergarten -- what a blast that was! A lot of fun was had by all :D He's now in obedience training. He's a smart little cookie and already knows a lot of the commands. The only problem we have is that he loves to pull when on the leash. No matter how much we "heel", he just wants to go where he wants to go -- and fast! So we got a Halti for him. What a difference! He's getting used to it, but sometimes I feel bad -- I'm sure he wants to go but I need my arms to stay in their sockets! Plus Tucker decided that chasing cars is a fun thing to do; this after being terrified of them! I guess we did our job too well!

We also have a dog park about a 10-min drive away, which is great for Tucker (and for us, because it tires him out so much)!

Here's a link to a picture taken when we just got him -- he now fills up at least six 1ft tiles (you'll see what I mean...)!

Take care,
Suzanne
