Wooohooo!! Which dog was it? Desi? And does anyone know if there are pics anywhere?
For those of you who have been in attendance.... more posts please! I want every detail! LOL |
Jere won the Centennial Best in Show. The winner was Bette, Desi's daughter, another of Jere's dogs. (Desi and Bette actually got dumped in the last round's first cut, if that makes sense! You should have heard all of the murmurs!). Bette was being handled by Maggie Lougee (Maggie is awesome, by the way!).
Totally stressful, the judge kept going over the dogs and making them move. She pulled Maggie and put her out in front and rearranged all the dogs, telling people to go to the fourth spot, eighth spot, move that person back and you go to fourth. You felt like Maggie and Bette weren't "safe" the whole time. Then after rearranging them all, she pulled Maggie over to the other side of the ring and put her in front and then picked her top 4 and awards of merit, took FOREVER! Once she sent them around and pointed to her it was totally awesome! Another really fun thing with this is that Jere had them take a "family" picture with all of the Lambluv dogs that were there. I had Toby there for the genetic hip dysplasia testing (I'll tell you all about that later) they said he should be in it also. Like a dummy, I was wearing black so I was covered in hairspray and cornstarch and fur when I hear, where's Toby? I have never groomed a dog so fast in my entire life! |
LOL it sounds awesome Mandy! It's so exciting!
I wanted to be there so badly... but it just wasn't going to happen for me this year. Our own national specialty is next month, I am going to find a way to go.... somehow! Did you see any To-Jo dogs there? |
I met a few of the To-Jo people but I didn't see any of the dogs there, at least none that I recognized. I'll have to check the catalogue again.
The To-Jo people did win some of the top producing kennel awards though! |
Stacey - I only saw a really pretty bitch by To-Jo being shown. They have really nice dogs. If you click on my photo icon, the puppies at the end are sired by a To-Jo dog.
Lambluv certainly has some superstar dogs. Mandy, I think we're going to be in some of the same dog classes when you and I start showing Toby & Frank. If anyone is interested I believe OESCA will either have the Centennial catalog online or will be selling extra copies. I think they are a nice thing to have if anyone wants to see who the actively showing kennels are. There are a lot of ads in it that have photos of champions so you can see them a little too. Amy Howard did a really nice job putting it together. |
Bring it on Frank! |
The judge's actions that Maxmm described reminded me of a chess game. It was interesting to see the dogs moved back and forth, as they were - - anxiety producing, to say the least. I do believe the Judge was very focused, thorough, and undistractable; how much her decisions were influenced by other forces, is a subject that I can not comment on, nor one that I have any knowledge of. As for Desi and Hummer, it was sad to see them cut.
Willowsprite: the Judge was from Canada (Calgary); a Registered Nurse by profession (hence, her attention to detail and compassion). |
The judge's name was Terry Carter so it made for some interesting communication during photographs. Between Jere Marder and Terry Carter nobody knew who anyone was asking for! |
That is so exciting to hear. Mojo's bloodline includes dogs from Lambluv and To-Jo. He had an undecended testicle so we can't show him. But he's still a winner to us. |
Haven't seen any pictures from the Centennial posted anywhere on the web. Has anyone run accross any photos? |

And I thought Jasper had a fluffy head. Beautiful sheepies! |
I bought my OESD from Jere in 2002 and Zeus is an awesome dog. From the vet to the groomer everyone compliments me on his disposition. He is a wonderful addition to my family and it was one of the best investments I have every made. Good Job Jere! |
