Sea water.... is it good for OES hair?

Hi all....
I am just wondering....summer season is begining here, and we go a lot to the beach....Pisco has come with us on several ocasions and he just loves a good bath in the sea....he can play with the waves for hours and comes in the water with me and my husband ...some one told me sea water is bad for his hair...but I never heard that before..in fact we sometimes go with a couple of friends that have a cocker spaniel and a lab..and the never heard that either...
Do any of you know anything about this?

HAPPY HOLLIDAYS!!!!
Vero, Cris and Pisco.

We took the Woof to the seaside resort of Whitby, Yorkshire this year (for those outside the UK - It's where some of "Dracula" was set). Anyway, once the Woof got over his fear of the waves, he just dived in and LOVED it.

The sea water seemed to be, if anything, good for his coat - he groomed up really well once he'd dried off. He did, of course, get COATED in sand when he was wet, but this just dried off, fell out, and took the dirt with it!
In fact, I've never seen his beard so white....
Thanks Mikey...
Pisco just loves it...at first I thought he was going to be scared but no....there he was....all wet and full of sand but loving every minute of it!
and yes his coat was very nice after he dried off....
hi we live in redcar just near whitby and my oes is in the sea almost daily in the summer .the only problem we have is as they get older some of the coat starts to go brown and the vet reckons it is due to the sea water and salt air.
that happens to Pisco as well....and my vet says it`s also due to the sea water and salt.
we were at the beach this weekend and it was so much fun to see an OES, a Lab, a cocker spaniel, 2 retreivers and a border collie playing around in the water ...they were the show of the beach.
We have a caravan in Wales and our other dog's love going in the sea,we're going there for Easter and it'll be the first time Isobels been with us,I hope she likes playing in the sea as much as the others do.I'll take lot's of photo's. :D
The only word of caution I would have about enjoying the water is - if there are any mats in their coats - they often become near impossible to remove after swimming! Be sure they are either in short coat - or brushed very well before hand. That's been my experience anyway!

Sydney loves to swim - but we haven't gone to the salt water yet - only fresh so far! Maybe this year will head to the ocean!!!
:) thanks...I had also that experience with Pisco....but I also realized that if this happens....what I do is put a bit of baby conditioner on the spot and slowly unmat...it works like wonders.
