Grandma is going to be 93 tomorrow
I am very honored to still have my Grandmother around. Even if she is a mean old lady...lol (She just says whatever she is on her mind...even if it is rude) I guess that's why we love her so much. For the last two years we have had pretty big bashes for Grandma. She said last year...if I live to my next birthday I will require another big party...lol Unfortunately, she broke both of her ankles last month and we cannot have a big party for her 
We are going to her place tomorrow to celebrate her Birthday with her. She will have three of her four Granddaughters there and 2 out of her 4 Great Grandchildren with her. I am sure she'll have a good day...even if she is stuck on the couch. Here is a picture of Grandma on her Birthday last year

Last year she did a twenty minute stand up comedy session at her party. She is so good at telling jokes always was...and boy were they dirty!!! lol When we were kids she used to make us leave the room 
I know that having her Great Granddaughter Hayley is keeping her alive. She calls me every other day to find out when she will see her and what is she doing that particular day. It seems nobody matters but Hayley. After her latest mishap of breaking her ankles we came to visit. When we walking in the visiting nurse said "Wow, would you look at her smile?" My Grandmother said "I know isn't she beautiful?" The nurse was talking about my Grandmother's smile. It was the first time she had seen my Grandmother smile. She is a nasty patient and takes it out on all of us...but when Hayley is around everything is right in her world. |
| Wow, Elissa, your grandmother looks great for 93. We should all look so good at her age! She's earned the right to be mean, I suppose. If she can still do 20 minutes of comedy, then her mind must be pretty sharp which is a huge blessing. |

Here is an example of my Grandmother's sense of humor. She asked my Mom to take some pictures of her in her lift so she could see how she looks in it... lol So for her birthday I printed out a copy of the picture below with a frame around it with a picture of Humpty Dumpty on it. I thought it fit nicely. I got a very beautiful frame for it too. She's going to love it... Check out her pretty Purple Casts...
Last Year she had a problem with her Blood Pressure and ended up in the Hospital. When I got the Hospital I said "How's it going?" She said "Not so bad" I said "really?" She said "Yes, The Firemen came first then the Police and EMS... I've never had that many guys fuss over me in my life... It was nice"...lol Elissa |
She is a very beautiful lady!!!! And I can see you in her eyes!!! But I would KILL YOU if you were my grand daughter and you posted a picture of me in casts and lift  I hope she gets even!!!!!!!! Congratulations!!!!!!!!!! Maybe we could hook her up with my Dad, he's only 84 but maybe she's go for a younger man  (tell her he has MONEY!!!) |

Colleen, Grandma has a couple of Appletinis about 2 years ago, she got pretty drunk and insisted on getting a Henna tatoo...lol Stacey, Nobody has ever said I look like my Grandmother. If you saw a good picture of her you would say we look nothing a like. My cousin Shari is her clone. I look like My Dad's family. I am a cross between my Father's Mother and her sister.. What a beaty of a story lol, I hope I live that long. With a grandaughter like you who has so much love. Hope she is on her feet soon and can have that party.

| She looks great, and I love that she has her nails done in the first picture. I love being around old people who don't feel old..they are a treasure, and so much fun to visit with.
I don't like complainers, my grandma complained ALL the time, and I could never please her, I was not a favorite, but was the only great granddaughter to help her....go figure. My grandma on my mom's side, is a peach, I just love her. If you can ever get a hold of her...she has a job, takes tours with a group, very involved with her life. In great shape too, always happy. I hope I can be like her. She must be approaching 80's...I have no idea on her age. So how on earth did she manage to break both ankles at the same time? Poor girl, that's gotta be tough to get around. Hope she has a lovely day tho. |
Elissa,you are very lucky too have your Grandmother around I never had a G-ma in my life,however Sams G-parents are VERY important too her.You know I have taken care of thousands of 90+ yr old ppl and your G-ma is very beautiful.Tell your G-ma that NO ONE looks sexy in a hoyer lift!!   |

Thanks for asking! Grandma fell about a month and a half ago. She had this really awful Aide working for her at night and during the weekend. Grandma got up because she had to Pee. She had forgotten the girl's name and tried to get to the bathroom by herself. Well she made it to the bathroom then lost her balance. She fell into the counter top and sink. Her face was all bruised black and blue like someone had beat her up. She also bruised her arm. Just to be on the safe side her Dr put a cast on her arm. We found a wonderful new Aide for nights and weekends. Grandma really likes her. She also has Nancy on the weekdays. Nancy is in her 20's and just got married. Before she got married she was Grandma's full time aide. Nancy just adores Grandma and vice versa. I am actually going to see her this Sunday. She should be in all her glory. Her two favorite people in the entire world.... Hayley & my Uncle Herb (Grandma's son) will be there. My Uncle and his wife flew in from NJ for the weekend to celebrate his 70th B-day with her. This will be the first time she is going to see Hayley walking. She is going to go nuts!! 
Her memory isn't what it was.... probably because of all the pain killers she is on. She is really doped up. She's had shingles since right before Ryan was born and it's seems they are always flaring up. Besides her arthritis... She has also broken almost every bone in her body at least once. At her 92nd B-day she got up in front of everyone at her B-day party and told jokes for about 15 minutes. She is one of the best joke tellers I have seen. She has a really hard time remembering punchlines now. That depresses her. She is also using a walker full time and when she goes out she is using a wheelchair...which she is not happy about. She's got this whole pride issue. She doesn't want to admit she's old.
But at 93...there is really no denying it... lol She has had quite a few mini strokes this year and this affects her getting words out, but that's about it... She gets very frustrated. Usually this goes away in a few days. But she is hanging in there.

| Just thinking of my Grandma who would have been 100 today, had she lived. She passed away shortly after she turned 94 in Sept 2006. She lived to see Hayley's personality emerging, got to see her learning to talk and saying Grandma's name and running all around her house. Her spirits were always lifted when she was there. I overheard her say to someone who had told her she had such a beautiful Great Granddaughter. She said to the woman, "Don't get me wrong, I love my Great Grandsons', but there is something about a girl!!" She adored her! I wish she could see her now. Hayley is bossy, she totally has Grandma's attitude! Grandma would have gotten such a kick out of her. LOL! We miss her all the time! Happy 100th Birthday Grandma!  |
