I have had the name Mumfred for a sheepie in my head for awhile!
Dumbledorf...oh....I just realized that might end up being shortened to Dum! NO GOOD! Fitting at times, yes, but no good! I always like English type names as well, but as you can see, I also feel like if you add a "Sir" in front of a name it becomes English! Sir Larry, Sir Frank, Sir Gordon, Sir Harry, Sir Fred....you see! OK...Gooch's full registered name is Sir Gucci Wigglebum...so maybe I should stop with the name suggestions! |
Hi- I had a OES for eight years that was the love of my life. Unfortunately, had to be PTS due to inoperable tumors in 2002. Her name was Sharmin. When I got her at 8 weeks old she was so sqeezably soft like the Charmin toilet paper. She was the greatest dog I ever had and would love to have a crazy OES carry on the name.
You won't find a better dog! |
I love choosing names out of books, usually of my favorite characters, or some pivotal part of the book that stays with me. I also like song names, and nature names.... |
I always believed in naming after someone you loved...I wanted to name Panda after my grandmother....Noni.....My husband wouldnt here of it, so we named her Pandemonium...Panda for short.....Panda's birhtday, it turned out was the same as my Noni's....Nov. 3......Hmmmmmmm |
Just caught up with your post, congratulations on your new puppy!!!
I'm with Sir Gucchi's mom, love the English names for sheepies. Our guy is Barrister Bogart ! (My spouse loves the Rumpole of the Bailey series , so we made Bogart a Barrister) Please post pictures soon! |
Congratulations!! I think Darby will be our next boy's name. It will be a long time, before we are ready for a Darby. Jack and Annabelle will be with us a long time.

How about Charlie or Sir Charles. Beckham is quite a popular doggy name in England.

I can't wait to see the expression on his face when I suggest we call him Beckham Thanks for that one!! Thanks to everyone so far, got quite a few of them on my shortlist. |
Oops How about Gerrard hubby might like that one.

That is the perfect name imo. |
Hey UK people,
I was watching one of those animal behavior shows yesterday that took place in the UK and in two episodes there were three different dogs named Breckin (sp?). Was that a crazy coincidence on the show or is that a somewhat popular name on that side of the pond? |
This Forum needs another Barney! |

George, I agree...you can never have too many Barney! Nicola, our dog's name is Barney, but we also call him Barnaby, which I think is a great English sounding sheepie name. I also like the name Duke and Leonard and Baxter. |
Thanks guys. We used to have a Barney (not a Sheepie) and he died tragically. It was really sad and although I love the name I'm afraid its ruled out in this case. I definitely like Duke. My husband and son want him to be called Jackson. I personally like Dudley or Tiny but unless I can come up with something else they both like I'm afraid it may end up being Jackson. |

Tiny? That could get you a lot of laughs in a year or so... |
I like Jackson, too. I also like Stonewall. **grin** |
How about "Ronaldo of Boston" it has a certain ring to it, don't you think?
I do like "Max" as in "Max Factor" if there is black pigment all the way around the eyelids. (Maybelline for girls ) Of course "Matt" is self descriptive. |

My first sheepie's name was Buford, and it fit him perfectly! I really loved the name, too, and told my husband that if our next sheepie is a boy, his name will be Buford. We didn't name him - we rescued him at 11 mos old and he came with the name. So this time, we'd be naming a puppy on purpose!

Imagine being out on the beach and calling 'Tiny, Tiny come here boy' and then a big fully grown male OES come bounding up and people are expecting to see a Yorkie or something. Too funny, that's why a like Tiny or similarily Baldy. Sadly, my hubbie doesn't share in my sense of humour and is stuck fast to Jackson. |

It does have a certain "je ne sais quois"! My husband is still pouting that he didn't get his first choice of name, which was Rufus. Bailey says" hey Dad I'll answer to Rufus as long as I get a cookie!" |
Be sure to have your hubbie holler out the door "Jackson" -- sometimes names roll off the tongue better than others... our rufus is fondly called by rufie or ruf! |
OKAY, an other Suggestion from Germany: It came in my mind, When I wrote the Topic......
How about: "Chivas" like the Whisky "Chivas Regal" ??? hahaha... Our old Sheepie, was named Chivas, when he did something wrong I called him "Regal" all the time... Greetings from Germany Michael |
Oh, OH! I thought of another one today...I know, GET A LIFE! LOL!
How about, RINGO! The Beatles are very English, NO? Maybe even Sir Ringo or Lord Ringo....I also think it sounds really cool if you are mad...Ringoooooooo! LOL I'm sorry, but I know a cat named Jackson, so I'm really trying to help! |
My kids are interested in the King Arthur tales as my eldest daughter is Morgan (I honestly didnt even know who Morgan le Fay was when someone asked if that is why I used the name LOL) so Merlin fit with Morgan and Avalon came to us as Darby but she had no clue what her name was...hey Dumbledorf would have fit her as well as she still wont always come when we call "Avalon".. I wanted to name her "Nimue" (sounds like nimway-she was Merlin's lover in the Arthur movie ) but hubby was calling her nimwit...as I think about it... nimwit fits her too LOL |
LOL...Kim! |
