Last night I finally discovered the problem when I looked at the security system and it was flashing that there was a zone open. After more searching I discovered that Bailey has dismantled the window contacts on the living room and dining room windows. He must have noticed them when he looks out the windows when we're not home, chewed them off, decided they weren't tasty, and left them for me... small piece by small piece. Obviously the small amount of electricity in the first one didn't stop him from going after 2 and 3 (he hadn't gotten to 4 yet). I didn't notice because they were behind 2 sets of drapes and we never open those windows. We don't use the alarm every day, but I know I had it armed about a week ago so this is a recent conquest. And fortunately, they were very small so I'm pretty sure he didn't eat any of it. I think Bailey will be banished back to the crate when we leave the house for his own safety! Sue |

LOL Sue.....Bailey the sneak......its amazing what they can get into.... I think I told you about finding tiny wires in Panda's muzzle fur....I couldnt figure it out for about a week.....she was pulling out the screen door wire string by string....down in the bottom corner...... |
LOL... too funny... |
That is funny! Sometimes I think they're part goat! |
Does that make him a 'cat' burglar in training? |
Oh Bailey! Honestly with that face, I would think he was innocent of everything!
Is it going to be expensive to replace them? |
He likes to give the impression that he's innocent...
They're going to charge me $45 for the service call. The contacts themselves are only $20 each BUT he did chew straight through a bunch of wire so who knows? I'm going to have them come look and give me an estimate - if it's too much I'll take those windows off the system and bolt them shut. Fortunately they're not windows we open very often. |
Well it could have been worse. Glad to hear Bailey didn't hurt himself.
Silly Puppy! Elissa |
True, I'm very lucky he didn't get hurt. He is back in the crate when I leave the house now. He doesn't seem to mind. My dog sitter (who is a vet tech) scolded me and told me that he'll still be a puppy for a while yet and I need to protect him from himself, no matter how good he seems. Bad mommy... |
Glad Bailey is safe ! Good idea to crate him when you are out.
He probably thought he was on duty for security, so to have a security system in place was redundant. The mischief these guys can get into when we are not looking!!! |
He's still a puppy and need to be protected from himself? He's also a sheepdog which means he'll be into things for quite awhile. Good thing he likes his crate, he may be there for awhile. LOL. They are silly creatures.
