Under the above title, the July 2005 issue page 86, reports a lady in Pittsburgh, Debbie Marvit-McGlothin, owner of a 2 yr old shepherd mix whose dog began incessant licking of her leg. Finally she noticed it was always the same spot, a mole, and when he began biting at it, she decided to have her doctor look at it. He was unconcerned, but at her insistence he removed it and sent it out for biopsy. Results indicated malignant melanoma. Debbie, who was pregnant at the time was heartbroken; but the subsequent removal indicated that it had not spread, since it was caught early enough - thanks to her dog who saved her life. |

I actually saw something like that on tv.....it is quite incredible...but I think with my sheepie, Id have cancer of the whole body....she licks everywhere.....lol |
Wow... that's amazing. |
Yup, I've seen the guy with the Schnauzer that detects cancer. He was a police dog and the trainer remarked to a doctor friend or colleague that the dog could sniff out anything and the guy said, "Really, can he sniff out cancer?" Turns out he could! The dog wound up detecting cancer in a guy that had been pronounced fine 3 times, through biopsies, by his doctor of many years. The dog saved his life. It's amazing to me what dogs are capable of. And to think I'm happy if they just don't pee in the house... |
They really, truly are the most amazing creatures! |
