Hi -
I know what you mean - Guinevere, our 13 month old, periodically decides the house needs re-decoration and starts chewing on everything from the edges of the coffee table to the edge of the Persian rug! On the coffee table we have tried a product called "Bitter Apple" which you can buy at most pet stores. It will not hurt them and has natural ingrediants, but acts as a deterant when rubbed on furniture. It did seem to work with Guinney anyway. If you catch her at it, you can correct her but otherwise they cannot distinguish what they have done when you find it later. We did that once too, and yelled "NO - BAD DOG" and then gave her a chew and put her in abother part of the room and gave her lots of praise when she chewed it. Substitution sometimes works as well this way. I hope these suggestions help. Kevin and Guinevere Z. ("But Dad, I was just adding to the 'distressed' look of that coffee table and thought I did a good job!") |
