In the past I've found the Mediterranean Diet helpful, and it included lots of healthy choices-it didn't seem like dieting at all. (Ok, I did miss the fudge ice cream sundaes with a brownie, and lots of whipped cream). Now expanded the concept to Mediterranean/Asian Diet. I'm trying to keep it interesting so its a lifestyle change. I fiqure the withdrawal from chocolate to be the most difficult part-are Toll House cookies really that bad?? Here's a good site for background: http://www.mediterrasian.com Inviting everyone to share recipes that fit into the Mediterranean/Asian Diet pyramid! |

Curious. I've often contended with the Greek part of the Mediterranean diet, add up the number of fast days in the Orthodox church and you have one reason the diet works well.............if the person goes light on the pasta. Whole grains are better than pasta as you eat less grain overall. (a dovout Orthodox is fasting about half a year: abstaining from meat, fish and dairy....leaving only legumes, nuts and shellfish for protein)
I wish you luck, sounds interesting. |
