How and to what food should I switch my puppy from Diamond?

I bought a bag of "Diamond" puppy food from the breeder so London wouldn't have to go through the "new food" stage. I'm running low on it and I can't find this specific brand anywhere in Western New York. I'm going to switch to a new brand - which brand do you suggest? which is good for an OES?

Thanks a bunch!

Hi!

I don't have a specific recommendation for food, but on switching, I'd mix in some of the new food with the diamond and switch over the course of a week, increasing the new and decreasing the old. I hope you have enough!

If not, there probably won't be any more harm than some tummy upset, like the runs. Some dogs won't experience any trouble at all.

Good luck! I hope someone chimes in with a good puppy food recommendation.
Your dog is great! Never heard of this dog food. Whow was the beader?

Sorry I did not read the whole replay. My vet recomends Sience Diet. Lamb and rice. Also the breader says the same thing. She is doing very well on it. No tummy up sets, I feel it is worth the price. Most stores charge 34.99 A 40 lbs. bag, but Country Max has it for 21.99. BIG saving.
Hope this helps.

the breeder was from Indiana named Diane. she got it from a tractor feed (what do you call it? im sorry, im from a big city - im still learning farm terms 8O ). At first I thought maybe it'd be a filler up but then I did some research online, it seemed good and I trust Diane, she feeds her dogs with it.

London is having no problem with it... however I noticed that he wont eat treats - any kind of treats, which is a bit disapointing because I was hoping to shop for fun treats... and it kinda makes it more difficult for me to train him because I have nothing to reward him with - other than praises.
Hi Laural! Just so you know there's no one "right" answer to this question, take a look at this post under Membership Polls:

There are a lot of good options! We feed Bailey Iams Large Breed. We also feed him Iams puppy biscuits as treats and he likes those alot. But this dog never turns his nose up at a treat! If London doesn't like any of the treats you bought you can always use pieces of his food as a reward for training.
Diamond is actually a very good quality food, may I ask why you want to switch?
Oh I just re read your post and now see your reason, not available in your area.
Well, there are lots of good foods out there.... I feed mine Iams and they are doing wonderfully on it.
Thanks everyone. My boyfriend is Canadian and we visit his family in canada regularly - we're going to try to find Diamond dog food there. If not then I'll keep Iams or Nutro in mind- thanks for the help!
You can get Diamond food at a place called Higgbes Farms, it is in N Chili. The food is made in Atica NY also Diamond is sold in a store call Pet Saver on Ridge RD near the Red Lobster. Hope this helps

thought i'd let everyone know - diamond has been giving London diareaha - he was fine as a puppy but now, nope. Has anyone ever heard of this dog food called Innova?

If not, i think im gonna switch to nutro very soon.
london I have got flannigan and cinde on pro plan and they aredoing very well on fergies breeder has used it for 25 yrs
We feed Mojo Natural Balance but there are many good foods out there.
As far as treats go have you tried the dog food that comes in a roll? It kind of has the texture of a beef stick. It can be sliced and then cut into little cubes for treats. I slice the entire roll and freeze small bags of it. It was great for training.
thanks deana and a yager - ill keep them in mind when i go dog food shopping. i kinda dread the thought of that because i'd spend like a hour in one aisle.
If he has developed diarreah with no food change it is most likely NOT the food causing it. He mostly has some kind of parasite or a virus, or has eaten something else that doesn't agree with him. The worst thing you can do to a dog with diarreah is switch the food. It will only make it worse and possibly put his health in danger if it continues. I would recommend a trip to the vet if you can see no cause for it.
We're a Nutro family, here.
