I'm not trying to RUB YOUR DANG BELLY, YUKI!!!! <as she tries to eat the ruler> |
|
First of all, where do you find shirts that will fit the sheepies? I love Target's new pet stuff, but they only go up to about 50 pounds I think (they call those extra large!). |
Are you going to get Yuki an I'm a big brother tshirt? |
I actually think she's around 26" but the shirts are 22-24" or 33-36"
not sure which one to get. they have one that is 26-30, but it's a raincoat that I don't want. I'm getting them from the JB Pets catalog that comes in the mail every so often. They have a website at jbpet.com they have awesome prices. ...most of the items are cheaper than a lot of stores. not all, but some of the shirts have sizes for LARGE dogs. |
Oh, and these shirts are XX and XXX-large hehe |
Ummmmmmmmmmm why does your sheepie need a shirt? Did you try to clip him like Tasker??? |
For funsies!!!
She looks adorable in them. Of course my husband and many people don't think big dogs should be in them, but ...having a small dog who is always in them... I've had more than my share of mocking, and it has never stopped me!!! Even in TX, she wore my college t-shirt (made for dogs of course), so she will definitely get one for our next place of living. As much as she wags her huge hinney, we think she'd look hilarious in a tu-tu. We'd win 1st price for sure in a dog costume contest. It's been on our mind since we attended our last one a month or two ago! |
I use my husband's XLT tshirts for dogs under 100 lbs, down to about 85. Lower than that I go for the LT's. I like the longer tshirts and it gives me more tail to tie into a knot. |
shirt tail |
We've had people order T-Shirts for their sheepies, and even the XXL were not large enough I was dissapointed, so we pulled them off... Sofa looks great on a sweater from Old Navy and on one of my sweatshirts, but I've never tried human T-Shirts on them... When they're shaved I'm sure they look cool!
Katie bought one for Dudley and she modified it, I'm sure she can post some advise. |
Hopefully the problem was in the shoulders and chest. I'd hate to see the t-shirt body be too small for a sheepie belly!

Lol. Thanks for posting the Web site for JB Pet. No t-shirts but we're getting all kinds of fun stuff. I had to try the raincoat! |
pet costume contest???? hilarious... i would love to go to one of those but i cant believe they exist. i have a friend who has this little scrappy dog who looks like an ewok who she puts in raincoats and baseball shirts all the time. somehow i dont think walter would stand for that... |
aWESOME!! I always go there before petsmart. My husband doesn't. He thinks going to the store gives him another chance to donate a buck to the humane society. Did I mention that when we had one in our town, we went 5 days a week for yuki?!?! Good grief. I'm just a grumpy ungiving person. |
Maybe we could havve our own OES.org PHOTO costume contest!!!!! |
Let's wait until Halloween. I already bought Clyde a costume but I want it to be a surprise. If he stands for it, it'll be hilarious. It fits his character! |
Rather than a "contest" we could just have an Online Costume Party |

I buy Clyde so much stuff it's ridiculous. I'm actually at the point where I hide pet store bags so James doesn't give me the business about buying him so much. Toys, grooming stuff, bones, treats-- it never stops. Also, if I get something for one dog, I have get something for the other. Lucy only likes bones and I've spoiled Clyde so well that he steals them from her because he thinks EVERYTHING is his. He's my own little Augustus Gloop. |
A costume contest would be so much fun. And then make a calendar out of it to sale, profits go to oes.org, so we have a fun calendar all year round. hahaha |
Jo that is a great idea! That would be so much fun....and great for oes.org . Ron what do you think? |
www.jefferspet.com has some clothes and they're cheap.
I'm planning on taking Jasper trick-or-treating with the boys (not for candy obviously but just to have an excuse to get him in a costume lol). I have an idea in my head, and he's going to go along with their costumes. |
then I can point and laugh at all the dog's in costumes who have mommy's who said dogs shouldn't be in clothes.
j/k, but it would make a good christmas stocking stuffer. |
I still need to know the sizes you guys are getting. We do NOT have pet stores here in my janky town, so we can't take her anywhere.
Of course when we go back to TX Sept 21st, I'll be able to. |
On JB I just used the guide for OES. He got an XX large in the raincoat. |
I think I'll dress Tasker as a cow.......he already has the costume all he needs is a bell and milk pail |

Hehe...we're thinking of letting our boys be cowboys and Jasper being a horse. We just have to talk Jake out of wanting to be the Blue Power Ranger (he doesn't even watch Power Rangers - lol) and Brandon wanting to be Scooby Doo... Oh...hubby wants the boys to be Storm Troopers and have Jasper be a Bantha! lol I think it'd be cute, but almost impossible to find affordable costumes for the boys. |

Terrific idea!! I did a calendar of family photos with everyone's birthdays and everyone loves it. It would be so fun to do a sheepdog costume calendar. If everyone submitted photos, I would volunteer to compile something that could be purchased through an online photo site (shutterfly, etc.) but I don't know how we'd get an additional contribution for oes.org. . . I can look into it if there's interest. |
quick google search -- dog costumes:

handnpaws has a cow costume, if I got the biggest size and the smallest I could have my own herd of cattle |
I totally agree with the Halloween costume party for the dogs. (Even though I'm one of those people who don't really go for clothes on animals! ) I think it'd be great to see how creative everyone can get.
We dressed Norman up as a sheep for Halloween a few years ago. Kind of avante-guard to make the sheepdog a sheep. |
I just went on the jb Wholesale website and I almost spit my coffee all over the computer...check this out...
http://www.jbpet.com/Shopping/product.a ... yHalloween It's the "witch" that cracks me up the most, check out her face! I really want to get Gooch a halloween costume, the girls (Natty Cat and Julie), my kitties have witch costumes that I force them to wear every year! They have little hats and capes and Natty Cat even puts on an evil face to go with the costume! I'm not sure Gucci will keep a hat on but the ruffles are kind of cool! Maybe he can be a pumpkin? Is anyone else as nuts as I am about Halloween? Colleen and The Gooch=>MOMMY, you have got to be joking! |
Sound a great fun idea, can we join in ? what sort of costumes? is it witches pumpkins etc. or anything. |
I think Chum would be a beautiful ladybug -- or maybe a bunny. |
hehehehehehehe |
aww...a ladybug would be cute!
Hubby changed the boys to jawas and Jasper is still going to be a Bantha! Should be interesting..... |
Wow, halloween already.... my kids never plan ahead, they decide the same week if not the same day. LOL |
Willowsprite wrote: Wow, halloween already.... my kids never plan ahead, they decide the same week if not the same day. LOL
lol...I make my kiddos costumes (expect for the 1st & 2nd year) so it takes me a while to do that since I don't have much free time. |
Most of the time I make my kids' costumes too... but we usually think up something simple, fast and cheap.
One year I was a siamese cat. I just happened to have an off white pair of pants and turtle neck shirt, then I used black pantyhose to put over my legs and arms, and made a tail out of stuffed pantyhose, and made ears with black panythose streched over cardboard glued to a headband and then painted my face. Last year Ashley was a fairy sort of thing... we bought some cheap sheer material in the shade of purple she wanted, and Ashley sewed it into a dress herself, and I made wings out of coat hangers. I opened up the coat hanger to make it straight and then bent it into the shape of wings, covered it with pantyhose, then painted watered down glue all over it, sprinkled them with glitter and let it dry. The boys always want to be ninja's, or characters out of video games, like Link from the Zelda games. They have also been the usual comic book ones, like superman, batman, spiderman etc. This year I have no idea the boys are very much into yu-gi-oh stuff, so most likely they will want to be one of those characters. My daughter will likely want to be an Inuyasha character, but she can do her own and help me with the boys costumes. |
