but i was so shocked when i found out that he's got a very serious illness inside his body and he's got fleas all over his body that threathening his health.i never knew this before, becos my friend convinced me that he's in a very good condition. it's already a week now that he's been hospitalized. maybe his healthy issue is his main bad-temper reason. i hope, after he's recovered, he will be more nice to me and my family. but..what if he still got the temper...what should i do??please help me... |

Hi Nadya,
So sorry to hear about your poorly puppy. I am not an expert, but I think if he was not feeling well, that may make him grumpy. How long will he be in hospital? If he is still bad tempered when he comes out do you have any dog behaviour consultants near you? They can be a great help. Let us know how you get on Chris Gardener ( I have 2 OES) one is nearly 3 and one is 1year old they are both males Smeagol and Frodo |
Welcome Nadya
I'm sorry to hear about your boy. I agree with Chris, illness can make a dog mean and grumpy. Most OES don't like their feet touched so that's not unusual. How serious are his health problems? Please let us know how he's doing and good luck to you both. |
Having fleas could mean he also has internal worms in his stomach and intestines. I hope the hospital can help him. A dog in pain or ill is not a happy dog and will act out by biting.

Welcome to the forum
I'm sorry to hear your pup is not well, that is most likely why he is not a happy boy. Once he is feeling better, to make sure he learns you are in charge, I would suggest making him work for everything. Hand feed him for a bit and make him sit for everything, for food, for water, for treats, to be petted etc. I hope he's feeling better soon, good luck! |
Welcome to the forum, Nadya!
I echo what everyone is saying - a sick puppy is a sad puppy. Hopefully he'll be feeling better soon. And yes, it is a common sheepie trait that they don't like their feet touched. Good luck, and let us know how things are going! Chris |
Hope your guy feels better soon. I agree with the others. A little training can go a long way. Let us know how he's doing. |
What IS it about the feet? I finally got mine to chill when I groom him...but it took a while. Sorry Snowball, to hear about the attitude, hopefully lots of constant love and affection with stable discipline will help. You never can tell how a dog was formally treated which may be a result of his reactions. |
I agree with everyone on this! I think he was just trying to tell you he wasn't feeling well! Please keep us posted on his recovery!

Cody still don't like his feet touched.I have been told that it is a "traight' of OES..Cody was getting quit aggressive at one stage.Had bitten me & my oldest son.He is now 13 months & is really doing great. The love of my life! Alot of patience! This forum has many years of exsperience..They have all helped me along the way..(thank-you all!)
Once healthy,I'm sure you'll see changes..Keep us updated..Good Luck! |
The younger you start messing with their feet the better, but don't trust that a 100% either. I think a lot of it is because it tickles, but.......
Welcome, and hope your dog is feeling better. |
