my bobtail sits down while walking on the lead

:( Hi I have a 13 month bobtail called maizie. when she was young she would walk well on the lead with me but as she got to about 6 months old she was so strong i couldn't walk her so my husband took her out. and she was fine. somedays she'd walk all the way round the block then other days she would not quite get half way and sit down and paw the lead down. not wanting to move. So we sent her to a training school hopeing that it would get her back walking with us. She has learnt all the commands and did it really well there. But as soon as she was back home she started doing the same again. Just wondered if anyone had come across this before. many thanks :)

Welcome to the forum:)

Sky has a sister named Maizie I think.... where are you located?

It's possible her feet could be sore, have you checked her paw pads? They may be worn, or dry, or have something in them... maybe let her walk on grass instead of pavement? Maybe the pavement (if she was walking on pavement or concrete) was too hot?
Please post pics! :)
Yes we took her to the vets and he said if she has been trained on grass that would make her pads soft. but now they are ok. he also check her feet and he sat they were fine. But the other day we took her to the park andf she walk round for hours. its just the problem of getting her out of the house. like i said she walks a bit then sits down. But she didn't do it a the park. You said sky has a sister called maize, my friend in canada also had a called sky, and dancer. i wonder if we know the same person ha ha. I have not used this site before don't no yet how to add a picture sorry. :?

Colleen and Gucci George=>GO MAIZE, GO MAIZE...I try to do stuff like that to drive my mommy nuts too! Keeps them guessing!
You should be using a self correcting collar. You may still have to show her that you are the boss. She is attempting to dominate you on walks. Wit hthe self correcting collar (not the spiked one, the chain linked one) I give Pooh a good check when he "steps out of line" and he gets right back into "You're the boss" mode. Collar checking is a great training tool for a stubborn puppy.....
Maggie used to stop on walks every once and a while. She would slow down, turn and look back at where we came from, and sometimes sit right down! I started taking treats with me, and when she would start to display this behavior I would encourage her to keep walking and give her a treat. I did this for about a week straight and she stopped. I agree that it is a stubborn behavior, and she wanted to go her way. Bringing treats helped her to see that my way was better!
Fergie did the same think. We had the breeder come oner and she showed us how to walk her. Everyone is right, it is in the hearding. she does not do much now. It does go away. Fergie is 4 1/2 months.
Good Luck
