My max has had panosteitis (growing pains) for almost 3 weeks now, and we had another vet visit yesterday and now they say on top of that he has a ambolism or slight ambolism in his hind leg. My vet consulted with a specialist and was advised that surgery is very high risk and that in most cases does not work and the animals dies. We have been told to just let him rest (which is easy since he cant walk) and continue to give him antibiotics so he does not become infected. The worse case scenario is that the clog ruptures and goes to his heart. The dr. says he has never seen this in young dogs before and is not sure why he has one(Max is just over 4months old). Has any one heard of a dog having a blood clot or have had this happen to them? |

Hi,
Since I read your post I've been concerned over you and Max. What's happened so far? Has the vet been able to provide you with more information?
Just wanted to let you know you're in my thoughts and I wish I could have been more helpful. Give the little guy a hug for me. |
Thanks for your thoughts. Max is doing better. His one leg is still very swollen, but he can walk now and is eating on his own. I will take him back to vet this week to have the Dr. ck him out again. I am hoping he is back to old self soon, he has been laid up for the past 3 weeks, and I've only had him for 5 weeks so it has been heart wrenching. |
