Merlin and the Margarine

A few days ago I walked into my kitchen and nearly fell on my butt as the floor took on the slipperyness of a skating rink! What the heck? I look down to see a now empty container of margarine on the floor. Murphey's Law would dictate it had to be one of those HUGE ones..that I rarely buy.

Looking for clues as to how this mysterious event occurred, I can only gather two things have either happened. 12 wk old Merlin (whom is huge) has either counter surfed or else he was again playing chase the kitten. If the latter happened she finally jumps on anything high to get away from him. So one of them was quilty of knocking it down. (note to self - never leave anything on the counter again close to the edge.)

Egads! don't tell me Merlin or one of the other dogs has eaten the entire tub full of margarine!!! At the moment...Merlin "sheepishly" peeks around the corner - gooey and oily beard. Oh dear!

I quickly search the house ...nope nothing. Even more quickly, grab the lease..Yipiii Merlin has had his final shots we can take a longer walk around the neighborhood!!

I discovered an off lease dog park!!!! Recently built and only four blocks from my home!!!!!!!! I'm in heaven!!!!!!

So thanks to Merlin and the margerine I see this now as a good event that occured being the optomist that I am.

Forgot my own advice the very next day however and left the sugar bowl too close to the edge...Bang! ohhhhh noooo sticky gooey sugar on the floor!!! Gotta luv puppies!!

Oh my, it sounds like you are having an adventure with your furbabies. All of it sounds like my home. We have the 2 kids, 2 cats and of course our 2 OES's (it is the beginnings of Noah's ark) so we are always having a laugh about something.

Jack seems to notice whenever there is change, and the other day my daughter had made a dangling spider so I hung it up for her so that everyone would see it. Jack made his entrance into the living room and stopped and began staring at this spider. He very slowly walks toward it and starts a series of barks. Then the next day we put up a new stockade fence in our back yard and he had the same reaction, slowly walk to it and start barking.

And a simple game of chase between them all and the house looks like a tornado went through the house. We just look on and smile.

I know we wouldn't have it any other way. (I am sure our neighbors would)
Too much, Marianne, too much! ROFL...

Just so you know it's not just you - Woof's biggest three disasters...

Counter Surfing Part I : He managed to get hold of a discarded bowl in which we'd had spaghetti Bolognese - It turned his beard orange for a week...

Lying in Wait: Playing the "velcro sheepie" Woof was right underneath me when I dropped a half-full can of baked beans - which landed upside down on his head (gross)

Counter Surfing Part II : Woof somehow got ahold of Jacqui's bright blue eyeliner compact - and ate a cake of eyeliner before I could wrestle it out of his mouth - aargh!
Lol! Loved both your stories!

Yup life is exciting in my household..two boys, 2 dogs and 1 puppy, 3 cats and a kitten. Gawd what was I thinking???? I posted previously that I had just arrived home with a new pup and all the critters in the household accepted this calm puppy!!! Ha! no longer! He's a terror on four legs..counter surfs, torments the previously well behaved cats ...I say previously as they are in cahoots with each other to bug him and then jump up high to torment him. They didn't run at first as they all grew up with my two calmer older dogs..then arrived the puppy. I figure another two years or so and life will get back to normal. Ha ha!

ohhh Spaghetti , Mike!!! Must have looked funny on Woof's beard! That's my 15 year old OES's favorite food!!! She'd have it all the time If I allowed it. Okay I can actually visualize people frowning...but she's 15 so I have in the past year occasionally put a little on top of her food if her appetite hasn't been good. She'll "woof" it down! I think at her ancient age she's allowed whatever she wants as she's not going to be with me much longer. She loves spaghetti!!! New puppy and my other dog are not allowed this luxery..so she eats in a seperate room. Lots of fun trying to co-ordinate all the food dishes at breakfast and dinner.

Neither of my dogs have yet desired blue eye shadow although Merlin somehow got hold of my purse and I caught him with my wallet in his mouth. Whew !! In the nic of time!

Walking the three dogs..12 year old Blue,15 year old Shaggy and 12 wk old Merlin...I think this should be entered as an Olympic sport! We must allow for Shaggy's slow paced walk...to the end of the block and back. Drop her off..then continue onwards. Blue and Shaggy have been used to walking together for years actually co-ordinate their steps together..heeling very nicely...Merlin on the other hand is attempting to pull my arm out of the socket. Thank gawd for puppy obedience classes...we are working on this. I definately have my work cut out for me.

Still I wouldn't trade any of them for a minute..their antics always cause me to laugh..expecially Merlin and the kitten.
And it all sounds "vaguely" familiar!

When I was 11 or 12, I had a german shepherd puppy who couldn't stand to be away from her people and so when my sister and I got home from school, we found all kinds of garbage, and some white powdery stuff on the floor of our living room. It turned out to be mashed potato flakes! Ugh! It was such a pain to clean up!

We were so mad! But we loved her very much and here 12 years later I can look back on that and laugh!

Wow this is an old post dug up! LOL

The things we forget... LOL Dancer has gotten into margarine at least once too, she's my major counter surfer... LOL
Relax Marianne, Merlin the magician created an illusion. None of this really happened. :D
OMG this is giving me the heebie jeebies!!! I just tonight thought of this long forgotten incident. You notice the post was dated 2003.

Well just this evening Panda stole a pound of butter off the kitchen counter..I had followed my word since 03 and hadn't ever left something like that on the counter until tonight. It made me remember when Merlin did it so long ago!!! Then I see this post!!!!!

You have to laugh at all the memories our furkids give us.

Marianne and the boys
That is too funny!!!   :D

If I would leave the baby cereal box on the counter when Hayley was an infant Pepsi would counter surf and grab it. It is pretty much the same consistancy as Potato flakes.
It was dried and caked into his beard, all over the living room carpeting and of course the telltale trail of it from the kitchen to the living room.
