So, does anyone have any suggestions for a Jello Fruit Salad? Am I naive to think that all I have to do is follow the directions on the packet and toss in some sliced fruit? Bill Cosby would be so disappointed in me |

Sue...does it have to be a sweet jello salad? Betty Crocker cook books have a lot of old jello salad recipes....My mother in law made a good one that wasnt sweet...it had celery and onions and carrots in it...it went with beef brisket....it was good even though it doesnt sound like it!!! I have a really old Betty cookbook from the 50's ... do you want me to fax you any? Call me.....by the way....JELLO SALAD????? lol.... |
Those old betty cocker cookbooks are the best. I would love to get my hands on one. |
My mother-in-law makes a jello salad with Raspberry jello, ginger ale and pear pieces. I'll call her and get the recipe.
I personally can't make jello to save my life. Apparently that requires the same chromosome that ironing does and I am deficient in that area. Maybe you should just make jello shooters that's the perfect appetizer! |
Mandy....I can give you a day Darcy session......
Ironing 101..How to iron without wrinkling what you just ironed Jello making 100..basic chemistry...how does it jell with alcohol in it. the fee is the alcohol for the shooters and you must bring the dogs..lol. |
I can make jello but I can't iron. Guess I've got a half a chromosome. |

Willowsprite, There is a gentleman in the next town that just opened a used cookbook store. His inventory is in great condition. I believe he also has Betty Crocker cookbooks. Is there one in particular you are looking for? He does mail order, but has no web site. Let me know if you would like more info... |
Darcy - you just cracked me up! I DO have jello making experience - I used to make jello shots all the time! I wonder if the women in my club would appreciate jello shot appetizers? It would make the whole event that much more entertaining If you can find the Pineapple jello, the best are pineapple jello and coconut rum shots, very tropical.
However, I'm afraid I have to take the more traditional Betty Crocker route and they're expecting a fruity jello salad. Fortunately the boys are here this weekend so I can experiment and if it turns out wrong, it will definitely get eaten. Teenagers are great for cleaning out the fridge. |
If you use pineapple use canned, if you use fresh it won't jell, courtesy of 8th grade science and the only thing I remember from it |
Darcy, we'll be down!
I can't take the humidity here anymore so dry heat is looking exceedingly good. Toby was living in Arizona with his handler before he came here so he'd probably love it. Maybe I can get some grain alcohol from the px, hmmmm this could be interesting! |
Bailey's Mom: Here's an easy and tasty jello salad:
1 sm can crushed pineapple, drained 1 sm container small curd cottage cheese, drained 2 sm pkgs orange jello (I use sugar free and it's really good) 1/2 sm container of Cool Whip Mix all 4 ingredients together and let set in the fridge. It's incredibly easy and, believe it or not, I've been asked for this recipie many times. I'm always a little embarrassed because it's really so easy! P.S. It's also good using lime flavor jello..... |
Thanks! It sounds great. |
