When a cake recipe calls for flouring the baking pan, use a bit of the dry cake mix instead and there won't be any white mess on the outside of the cake. |

Go to the bakery! They'll even decorate it for you. |
Or use cocoa to dust the pan for chocolate cakes and parchment to line the bottom. |
Pam with flour in it works great for baked goods! The only thing I've noticed is that if you use it on a glass baking dish, it can leave a brown residue after baking, which is hard to scrub off.

Butter & flour mixture (from Bo Friburg, "The Professional Pastry Chef"): "Using a Butter and flour Mixture (4 parts melted butter and one part bread flour by volume ) is a quick and easy way to prepare cake pans, forms, or molds in a recipe that says to grease and flour the pan.
1. Combine flour and butter. heat to melt. 2. apply the mixture with a brush. The combination can be left at room temp. for up to one week. If refrigerted, warm it before using, (but do not boil) and stir to combine." I mix up about 1 cup (1 oz flour, 8 oz. butter) and freeze it. Use it on cake pans, bread pans if dough includes fruit, and pie plates, muffin tins, etc. Bo is exec. pastry Chef, California Culinary Academy |

Well, in another post we had a discussion about dog saliva making hair grow and keeping Darcy's fire ant bites from itching..........maybe it would keep cake from sticking too |
While in Washington DC a couple weeks ago we ate at a wonderful restaurant, La Tasca, which serves only tappas and paella's. I had an absolutely delicious vegatarian paella. Does anyone know how to make paella? |

Yes! I have a seafood paella recipe, would you like it? Also, there is a good cookbook on tapas-I just have to find it and I'll post that too. |
Yes, I'd like it, I could just substitute the asparagus and atichokes for the seafood Thanks!!!
As a funny aside..... (with me eveything is funny aside.) This paticular restaurant is managed by the daughter of a patient of mine. He kept telling me about this great "Tappas" restaurant that his daughter managed in DC that I had to take my son and his in laws to when I went down for the wedding. Only I thought he was saying TOPLESS and as a nurse it is my job to be NON JUDGEMENTAL AND ACCEPTING so I kept smiling every time he mentioned it and I didn't say WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD I WANT TO DO THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally, the week before I went, he gave me his daughters business card and I started laughing HYSTERICALLY when I read on the Card that it was a "Tappas and Paella" restaurant NOT A TOPLESS restaurant |
Well, just realized the whole thing above should have been a NEW TOPIC.....RON CAN YOU HELP??????????????????????????????????
My excuse is that the boyz woke me up at 5AM and I'm cranky and blearey eyed. |
Get your OES to lick the pan? I figure with an OES no one had a problem with ANYTHING Sticking to a pan. |
