Groggy doggy

Well, Benny got neutered yesterday (at the age of 16 months). He was a little groggy when we got home and almost fell over while trying to lift his leg on a tree. He also almost fell off the steps (his favorite place to sleep) luckily I was there to catch him.

He still seems a little sleepy but seems to be doing well. Perhaps I should use his sleepiness to my advantage and get a good brushing in while I have a chance!!

Im sorry to hear that Benny was weak. I haven't neutered Winston yet.
He is now 9 months old. I was thinking of getting it done but what is a good age to get him neutered? Also, did Benny have to wear a collar around his neck so he doesn't bite the injury? Keep me in touch how Benny is doing and how fast he recovers.

Mary
He'll be back to his normal clown-like self in no time. Good idea to get in the brushing now, though! :D

They say around 6 months. I guess it's easier on the dog younger than older. Our rescue, Buddy was just neutered when we got him (he's about 2) and now he has that sad looking flap of skin, which the pound that we got him from did not choose to remove. :(

Clyde got his done at 6 months and he never even knew what happened. He came back more energetic and bouncy as ever. He never licked and we had to watch him to make sure he didn't rip the stitches out just by running around and playing!
Guc was done at 6 months and was exactly the same as Clyde, it sounds like! :D

I wouldn't have had a second to try and brush him when we got home!
Benny is doing well. He seems to be getting back to his normal self. He did not have to wear a "lamp shade" collar. I just have to make sure that he doesn't try to get at his sutures. Which isn't hard, because he doesn't seem bothered by them. His sutures are dissolvable, so he doesn't even need to return to the vet for to get them removed.

Benny's vet will do neutering at any age after 6 months. I kept putting it off because I didn't know what I wanted to do.
Glad to hear he's doing well!
Poor Benny  Glad he's doing well. Give him a sheepie hug from Ty and Tasker. Ty is scheduled in Spetember to get his little peanuts removed 8O , I've already started to worry. I had a terrible time with Tasker, he pulled at his stitches and wound up with a terrible infection. Might use Ron's designer shorts idea...............only I'm not sure how to get a pair of shorts to fit TY!!!
Ginny, buy toddler underwear...that may work.....you can get them with sponge bob or batman......cool!! 8)
HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEH
THAT JUST MIGHT DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll let you know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tasker's Mom, didn't Ron post something about a "dog collar" it's for uprights but works really well on doggies and it doesn't limit their sight or damage your walls!

Colleen and Gucci George=>I was a good boy and didn't bother with my stitches too much! But I did enjoy the sympathy from mommy and laid on my back with my legs open to really milk it!
I think he did, I'll have to go back and look. I wonder if they make them Ty size...............
Benny's vet recommended using an old t-shirt. Putting the hind legs through the arm holes. That way it keeps them from getting at the stitches, yet it is loose enough for the wound to get air. Perhaps you could get a baby t-shirt.
I was thinking about a newborn onesie 8O
A Onesie!! Perfect and totally funny for the rest of us to look at! Try and find him a girlie one with the ruffles on the butt.
Doug will kill me but YOU GOT IT!!!! Definately a PHOTO OP!!! Now I can hardley wait for the end of SEPTEMBER!!!!!!!
Don't guess, just measure their waist. If it's too big you can always use a safety pin. Actually they look rather handsome wearing underwear, either boxers or briefs, LOL Yes, do make them ornamental.

Most male neuters leave the scrotal sac, it is just emptied. Only once have I had a problem with a neutering.......and I had to put cold compresses on him several times a day........... :?
