Home from the Kennel with the Runs

Tasker spent 6 days at a new kennel last week and yesterday started with a horrible case of the runs. The kennel was very clean and Tasker has had all his shots. The kennel owner did insist on feeding her own food ( IAMS), she said she likes the "quality of stool". I was a bit leary as Tasker does not do well with food changes.

He was fine until yesterday (he came home tuesday am) when he was suddenly loose as a goose. Do you think it's just the switching back and forth? We have a Vet apt tonight to get his ears rechecked so I'll ask the VET. Last night I gave him rice cooked with chicken boullion and this morning he's still a mess and PHEWWWWWWWW STINKEY!!!!

poor doggie! and poor you! i have no idea but lots of sympathy. . . :|
It does seem like the switching has upset his tummy. :? Perhaps a little plain yogurt today over the kibble will help? Good idea to ask the vet, though.
Sorry...not much help...just hate he's not feeling well. :(
It's probably a combination of change in food and routine. Wise to ask the vet though.
I'll bet stress has something to do with it too.

Kayli's stresses alway hit her tummy a day or so later, especially if she had to go to a kennel.

Or if there were three sheepies playing in her yard...
This morning we did the butt bath (AGAIN) and I got the clippers out and gave poor Tasker a pretty close butt clipp, looks funny butttttt (no pun intended) it will be easier to clean). I've got vanilla candles lit all over th house and I've been spot cleaning the rug like crazy. He's laying at my feet now farting.......PHEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm amazed that someone running a boarding kennel would not know better than to switch his food like that! If they were worried about stools they would have known switching would do the opposite...
Hope he's feeling better soon!
I was suprised........ but she insisted................ It seems that it is impossible to find a good kennel around here. I just found out yesterday that my old kennel was turned in to the SPCA for animal abuse 8O
I hope Tasker feels better....I have no better advise to give you, other than what you have already gotten...poor baby...
AHHHH poor Tasker! Poor Mommy! I really think that I've heard that the rice and chicken are the best way to go. Also Pepto Bismal, the tablets of course, apparently the liquid could be equally messy! Pink bearded sheepies are NOT cool. But I would ask the vet!

Good luck!

Immodium and another couple days of rice and boiled chicken. No fever or other signs of illness. Stool clean (so tooooooooo speak) of parisites. Simply a delicate tummy from changing food :?

Between Tasker and Ty I might better just put myself on payroll deduction with the Vet.
I've always been told boiled ground beef and rice instead of chicken when they have loose stools...
The immodium worked great for my dogs... pretty much instantly.
Yes, you are right it is usually beef but I'm a "beef free house" and only have chicken or fish in the freezer :? The vet said chicken was ok (I'm not a vegatarian but beef grosses me out)
