Im sure this has been asked before, but what is behind your sheepie's names? Full names, nick names, meanings origins. Tecumseh Moica Hanaco The girls gave tuc his first name, atfirst I was , But....as soon as we saw him, Tecumseh just seemed to fit. Standing there at 2 weeks with his head up high, very Statuesque, for a 2 week old anyway So, me being a little ummm well, too interested in the L.O.T.R series, decided his other two names should be in elvish, Moica Hanaco, which means gentle giant. |

Yuki (You-Key) - It means lucky, white snow.
Well, she's mostly white, super lucky to us, it's an Asian name like myself, and my "husband" would say pure as snow. I, however ...would say she was that retarded (no Einstein) that she's innocent. Imo, she's rarely "there" ...being "out there" would be more accurate. We call her Yuk-a-doodle and Yuke-ster a lot too. ...just because they have nice rings, I suppose. |
Jasper's AKC name is Captor of Hearts because he steals the heart of everyone he meets. His actual name is Jasper. Not really anything to picking that one out. We just started calling out names we liked until we all agreed on Jasper. |
Barney is just plain Barney. We got him that way, but that was a determining factor in us deciding to rescue him. Our two cats are named after Simpsons characters (Lenny (Homer's friend) and Mrs. Kerbople (Bart's teacher)--Kirby for short) and then the possibility of Barney coming was a tough decision, but his name (Homer's drunk friend) put my husband over the edge and 'allowed' me to get him! |
Clyde's fancy name that I never actually bothered registering is Leopold Butters Stotch-- after Butters from South Park. When he was a baby, it seemed like if he could talk he'd sound like Butters.
I came up with Clyde, well, just because he looked like a Clyde. Kinda big and dopey, but cute and sweet at the same time. It was actually going to be Clive (nice British name) but when I mentioned it to other people, they all thought I was saying Clyde anyway. So, Clyde won out! |
Drezzie came with her name, so I can't say why her first owners named her that.
Her full name is Dresdan, but we never call her that. Drezzie or Drez is all we ever say. One good thing is that it's unusual - haven't heard of another dog named Drezzie! Chris |
Zippy came with the name Winnie. Her previous owners claimed that their daughter named her, but their daughter wasn't even old enough to speak, so we have our doubts about that!
Shortly after we got her my mom was watching PBS one night when they were having their call in and support us things and some guy called in and donated in honor of his dogs, something and Zippy the Pinhead. My mom turns to "Winnie" and says wow that sounds like you! You're a Zippy the Pinhead! And the name stuck ever since. She has all kinds of little nicknames: Zipster, Zipcode, Zip-a-rama-dama, Fuzz butt, Fart Face (my brother's favorite), Zippy Dippy, and many more. Sad thing is, she will come to any of those, as long as she gets attention! |
Pandas full name is Pandemonium Panda for short...she also answers to panda pooh, pooh bear, pooh, sniffy, lovey, and sometimes stinkey |
Lennon's always been Lennon... In honor of the first sheepie Danita and I saw on a park one day. the guy called him Lennon and the name fits their personality perfectly!
Sofa used to be Sofia, then we changed it to Sofi and the neighborhood kids started calling her Sofa. Since she's a couch potato, the name fitted perfectly. They respond to their names, and to anything you want to call them... as long as you have something wrapped in cellophane in your hand |
Sir Gucci Wigglebum...I named him myself! If you knew me well, you would say, "of course you did!" I liked Gucci, because....well what girl doesn't? I added the Sir to make it more English and knightly and Wigglebum, well... really no explanation needed!
George has been added, because he is a George! But lately, my girlfriends seem to have added: Grover (shaved sheepie! I HAVE NOT Manic Panic'd him blue, as requested from my girls!) Babydog, Sweetie, Georgeous (George)! Quite frankly, we can call him anything since he can't hear us, so I assume this will go on for years! Colleen and Gucci George=>OH FOR CRYING OUT LOUD...this is embarassing! Panda, you can just call me HUNK! xxoo |
Jack for Jumpin' Jack Flash because he has a hard time keeping four on the floor.
Harry was named by a little girl at the shelter after her mother said she couldn't have the dog. I told her I would let her name him ......at least. Fox for his long snout for a Pyr. The other three came from rescue or shelter with their names so I just held on to them. |
Truman has some really goofy nicknames. My family is famous for nicknaming everyone! He comes to TruTru, Truey, Tut, Tuttie My Little Buddy, Screwey Truey and many more. If you happen to open the treat jar, he will come from the other end of the house without even being called at all! |
G.G......Hunk, Hunk, Hunk......xoxo |
Thanks Pretty Panda! smooooooooooooch!
xxxooo |
I feel bad, I've never registered Bob with a fancy name. I should really get on that. Are there any regulations for that, or can you just pick anything. I call him Bobbly Wobbly a lot, I wonder if that could be a proper AKC name?? Hmmm, maybe Sir Bobbly Wobbly - yeah, I like the sound of that!! You don't mind, do you G.G.?

Quote: George has been added, because he is a George
Hmmm I wonder what that means! Barney is Herr Bernard Von Leopold (his father's name) von means royalty. Maggie is Dame Margaret Reginald (her father's name) keeping the English heritage. |
Karen, I don't mind at all! Sir Bobbly Wobbly it is! Darcy will shorten it to SBW though, hope that doesn't translate badly!
George, GG is a George because he is smart, handsome and witty....of course! Colleen and Gucci George=>Just don't call me late for supper! |
How diplomatic. |
What's wrong with the initials???? Very preppy...like a monogram...and if you are naming your pooch after royalty, why wouldnt you do the initial thing...arent there initials after the queen...HRH...etc...I like it....dont be offended....besides Im a Prep..I stand by it...will never change...I LIKE INITIALS...................................besides, its quicker to type [/i] |
I love that you are a Preppy! Did you know that Lacoste shirts are coming back? Collars up and everything! My fav was a pink one layered over a green one...OMG that's quite 80's isn't it?
My worry was that the initials stood for something...OK here is an example...I hope I don't get in trouble My girlfriends intials are K.A.K. and that just wasn't thought all the way thru when they were naming that gorgeous little Kimberly Ann...was it? I will leave it at that! LOL Colleen and Gucci George=>REALLY MOMMY! |
Merlin's pedigree name is Waterdown Wizard of TasiaHills. We had already picked his call name "Merlin"(breeder had nicnamed him Zorro(for Merlin's mask...great name but the kids had no clue who Zorro was)...kids are very into Medieval stuff...my eldest dd is Morgan (didnt even know who Morgan le Fay was at the time we named her! LOL!) Anyway then we went from there for his pedigree name...Waterdown for the town we live in and Wizard for Merlin and TasiaHills is the breeder he came from. Merlin is called Moo-moo, the MOOOSTER, Boo-booths, You stinky dog (haha) and anything else the 4 kids and come up with.
Avalon came to us as Darby. She didnt know her name at the time (heck still doesnt LOL) anyway none of us were crazy about that name and we had always wanted a second sheepie to be Avalon. But I dont know what her pedigree name is..her previous owner took care of that one...doesnt matter she is something from Tasiahills LOL She doesnt answer to Avalon, which is what I always call her, but dad calls her Beans (nope doesnt come to this either) , kids call her Avalonian (dont know why! LOL!)however when I call "PUPPIES" she comes or I say "Cookies" she comes LOL Maybe I should -rename her Cookie! |
Coll, Im dense too...I dont get the K.A.K. ???!!!
Collars up have never gone away in my world....sigh...I refuse to be trendy...but Ha...Im back in now...I just had to wait 20 years |
You have to say the K.A.K. as if it is a word! That is all I'm going to say!
Colleen and Gucci George |
OH......its all in the accent.....got it...I kept saying cack...lol.....silly me |
Beau was named after Beaumont Hospital here in Michigan. I have two sisters who work there. His registered name is House of Rex Royale Beaumont.
We call him Beau, Beau Beau, Beaumonte' and my teenage nieces call him some other names that I don't like at all I keep telling them that he is still a puppy! |
My husband, son, sister, brother-in-law and I all made the 2 hour trip to get Mojo. We hadn't found a name that we could all agree on, so that is how we spent the time. We went through the usual English names, dog names and silly ones. After about 100 names we started reading off street signs and business signs. He could have been Flat Tire, City Hall or Bologna!!!! Will alway be a fun memory for us. Jonathon picked Mojo because Austin Powers lost his mojo. I refer to the names other meaning, magic. That has what he has brought into our lives. |
My girls are Tasia Hills Dancing Light (Dancer) and Tasia Hills Evening Sky (Sky) .... I was trying to go with a native north american-translated to english kind of theme.... |
