Well........ since this site is dedicated to Old English Sheepdogs, I doubt you'll get many comments on a mixed breed such as a Sheepadoodle. Now having said that, When we lost our OES a few years back we found a sheepadoodle that needed a good home and adopted him. He's full size not a mini, weighs about 70 lb. He's a good boy but does have problems-- very fear aggressive, he does not tolerate other dogs well; and a bad case of hip dysplasia. Both of these problems can be traced back to his breeder, typical dog factory that was breeding Poodles to anything that would make cute puppies. His sire and bitch both were too young to be bred and he was sold at a much too young age, before he learned how to be a dog. If you are looking into one of these "designer" dogs, you really, really, REALLY need to do some research into the breeder, and honestly I wouldn't recommend it. |
I think Mutts are great. But when it comes to the designer dogs, I have a problem. Yes, they are cute, all puppies are cute. These so called breeders have charged as much if not more than a good purebred from a reputable breeder and are commercial breeders, only out for the money. If you are looking for a medium size dog, check with Rescue Groups and Humane Society. There are really great dogs out there that really need good homes. My last 4 dogs have been through Rescue, 3 Sheepdogs and a Golden Retriever. There are also Breed specific Rescues as well. Check them out. Good Luck, whichever way you go. |
