Does anyone have any suggestions on how to gain his trust? I have tried hot dogs and peanut butter but as soon as he sees the scissors, he scrambles. Appreciate any comments. Happy New Year |

Use electric clippers? But train to them first for a good (long) while with them off then with them running then running around his body doing nothing while petting his chin. Use a skiptooth blade to reduce snags. Only touch it once then stop for the next day or next training session. And don't be nervous about it yourself! Make it happy time. All that said.... Good luck. I've (obviously) not had that exact issue and all dogs are different and will react differently. Let us know! ... And thank you for your first post. Welcome! |
Thank you, Ron. I will purchase clippers and try your suggestion. Meanwhile, I’m washing his beard daily. He is extremely quick and that is how the accident happened. |
Be sure to buy a good clipper like an Oster Andes or Wahl. Sadly it will be a good $100+ and the skip tooth blade will be about $35. Maybe your groomer will help you with the experiment? |
I have never been able to use clippers-they don't seem to like the noise anywhere near them. I nicked Fred on a hind leg once when he decided to get up and run away whilst trimming but luckily a biscuit solved the problem. Slowly does it would think. xx |
